A good way to make the forum a welcoming place for all is just to be nice to people. I don't understand why there are a number of people on here completely unable to get this. Doesn't matter if people have opposing viewpoints - some posters are able to debate properly and remain civil.

If Johnny was abusing people by PM then sure. I doubt that is the case, when that did happen to me it did not result in a ban to the perpetrator IIRC too

He has definitely abused me by PM, quite nastily on the old PTG sub forum which I didn't bother reporting at the time in order to protect the game from being at risk as it would have resulted in him being banned. He's also abused myself, the other mods, and other posters via the report function on numerous occasions.

Why do you doubt it when multiple people have said that he has done it? Unfortunately, I am not surprised you are one of his biggest defenders.

Not sure what the specific offense is on this occasion but a permanent ban seems quite excessive to me especially when you see much worse for example in the City post-match thread which resulted in a far shorter ban. I think Johnny is very knowledgeable about football and I will miss his contributions to the forum even if he can be abrasive at times. He gets cast the pantomime villain round here by some but plenty of people snipe at him too - exhibit A right here. I don't think he is chasing people off a forum.

Isn't that what the ignore function is for? There are a few on here who i find really boring and occasionally offensive. I have them on ignore and don't need to be bothered by the bullshit.
