Every single report that's made gets looked at, so if you feel someone has overstepped the line for whatever reason then please use the report function and it'll get discussed. Everyone is treated the same.

We generally try and keep things lenient and not be a forum that dishes out bans for every single insult or case of bad language. Context and intent matters and we take previous behaviour into account if it's just a one off or out of character. We also warn and have a word with people over PM which members don't always see.

This particular situation has been rumbling on for a long time now with numerous warnings and short term bans. The collective opinion is that it was the final straw when he expressed that he'd enjoy seeing another forum member's head stoved in.

Plus you also wouldn't be aware of the abusive language he often directed at the moderating team and other posters in the comments section of the report function when he used to report other posters. Those comments aren't seen publicly either.

The reason I'm telling you this is that it's never as black and white or simplistic as it seems on the surface.

If there is worse, it should be dealt with, I agree. However, with him it is multiple, multiple instances over a prolonged period of time. The cumulative effect is worthy of the permanent ban.

I knew me posting the ban info would backfire on me and get accused of this nonsense.

For the record I had nothing to do with the reported post or the decision to ban him. I washed my hands of him months ago and have had him on ignore since then. I said I'd agree with whatever decision was made by the rest of the mods and admins. The majority was a permanent ban. Visage has also previously asked why he hasn't been banned before and said he'd support a permanent ban for him.

So that's where we are. I personally want nothing to do with him ever again, and talking purely as a poster and not a moderator it's good riddance from me personally as he has directed vile abuse at me on a regular basis on here for years both publicly and privately.

If any of you have any problem with any of my views then report it. My personal feelings on topics have nothing to do with my ability to moderate this place as part of a team.

Personally, i have no problem with moderation on here, am simply trying to mediate the "permanent" part of the decision.

No, making private messages available for all to see is not normal.

A good way to make the forum a welcoming place for all is just to be nice to people. I don't understand why there are a number of people on here completely unable to get this. Doesn't matter if people have opposing viewpoints - some posters are able to debate properly and remain civil.
