General Wolves News

If he wants to play then why did he sign a 3 year contract at a club with a clear number 1 in his position? There's backing yourself and being delusional, unless of course he was told Semedo was off, given we sold every other bugger that Summer.
And even if you were minded to think that way, you've just spent a year where pretty much the only league games you've played are down to someone being banned, injured or away on international duty. So get the message.

Us offering him a 3 year deal is the other ridiculous side of the coin. He was literally fucking unemployed. He's 31, turning 32 halfway through the season. Why are you offering that length of contract?

Forest managed to sign Ola Aina in the same window for free, on an initial one year deal, then extended it when it was apparent that he fitted in well.

Shows how shit Hobbs is.

The sheer entitlement of Doherty is just insane though.

You're old (for a footballer), you were just red raw awful for Ireland in one game then embarrassing in a short sub appearance in the next one, you haven't played a single minute since....

"Obviously I should be in the squad".

Wanker.

"I do expect to be in the next squad" spun my head.

I wonder if he'll retire and really show 'em if he's not.

Hobbs is just another example of how some people with the right face at the right time get plucked from obscurity to be a 'Yes man' placement somebody before inevitably fading away to nowt in their current and future workplaces. Rob Edwards is another who fits the 'local and liked', nothing done, smile and nothing will be done profile which is nowhere near the level we demand.
Our club's ownership is quite simply very narrow-minded and simplistic and cannot cope with world or even European class leaders. All they want is the money and the associated glory.
They ay gorra clue.
Unless we are bought out, it's a slippery slide back to missing out on the playoffs.

So give him a one year deal.

Not a three year deal.
Not defending the deal BTW....desperate players....desperate club and agreed point was a 3 year stay. I would say the peak of our insanity since Covid but pretty sure we are still climbing.

I mean we did go on to loan out two strikers saying this gave us the headroom to bring in a striker early doors, then signed no striker.

It is an insane deal though. None of us would ever voluntarily pick him in any situation this season. He'll still be here next season.

Premier League VAR decisions overturned net score

Brighton +9

Newcastle +6

Man City +5

Aston Villa +3

Crystal Palace +3

Liverpool +3

Man United +3

Chelsea +2

Everton +1

Tottenham -3

Arsenal -6

West Ham -7

Wolves -20

All evens out at the end of the season, don't be ridiculous the referees aren't biased against individual clubs, every fan thinks their club are the most hard done by etc, etc.

The beginning of the end of our Premier League journey that was.
Nah, we've been playing chicken with it ever since the sale of Jota and spending all that money on Fabio and Hoever.

Then a year later, not one other Premier League club would have had Bruno Lage on a 20 man shortlist.

It's been in the post for years.

I said it when Dalrymple left years ago...

Before this turns in to another Johnny v EP epic battle - I think he just means he wasn't happy with Dalrymple leaving and looking back, that was one of the earlier occasions where we can see things weren't quite right behind the scenes (Shi gotta Shi).

For what it's worth, I know there were a lot of people disappointed with the way Dalrymple left - all very cloak & dagger at the time - and he's one of the popular figures I was alluding to in my post earlier on today about Jeff Shi.

Dalrymple had zero say on footballing affairs so while it was a move which damaged the connection between club and fans, it's made absolutely zero difference to all the stupid decisions regarding playing and coaching staff, which is ultimately all that matters.
