General Wolves News

I've seen a snippet of what he says about said fuckwit. It is complete and utter bollocks.

he doesn't actually defend the appointment does he?

Kind of. Basically everything he says about his track record isn't right at all.

Also calls him a "nice guy" which clearly isn't true, unless you like people who end a fellow pro's career with an awful challenge, make up stories on national radio about a dead man's alcoholism and get convicted of drink driving.

Timmy's latest Podcast is an interiew with Steve Morgan. Might give that one a listen, be interesting to hear his views on Mike, Stale and the Fuckwit he employed

The last one was an interview with Coady, definitely worth a listen, it really, really is.

Just to elaborate:

Saunders replaced Solbakken in January 2013 but oversaw Wolves’ relegation to League One and his reign is derided by supporters. Morgan concedes it was his mistake to hire Saunders.

“He’d done a phenomenal job at Wrexham in a very short space of time,” Morgan says. “Then he went to Doncaster and in his first season, he took them from obscurity to running away with League One at the time.

“We met him with Jez Moxey and he came across as impressive. His track record had been phenomenal.

“I felt he could do a job for Wolves but it wasn’t the right appointment. I don’t want to say anything about Dean because he’s a nice guy but it was the wrong appointment. I take that on the chin. It was my mistake.”

It's total nonsense.

He spent three years at Wrexham (how is that a very short space of time?) and didn't get them promoted despite having one of the highest wage bills in the league. This is non-league as well! Why would we care about that level of football, what possible relevance could that have to us at the time?

He then relegated Doncaster from the Championship out of sight (that was his first season, well all bar about 10 games), and when he left there was nearly half of the season in League One to go. They were 2nd, three points clear of 3rd place, two teams below that could have gone within two points if they'd won their game in hand. "Running away with it" indeed.

All the reports were of his football being dire and you only need to spend two minutes listening to the guy to realise what a moron he is. How could he impress at interview? How was he the best candidate we could attract? How is a track record with nothing on it "phenomenal"? Remember we actively headhunted him even before we sacked the incumbent.

If you're going to "open up" on your time at the club then tell the truth, not like it matters either way now.

I turned off before I got to the Coady bit. I don't want to know about his toilet roll problems or that people recognise him.

You have to presume the Dean Saunders we don't see comes across as a nice guy, bit of bantz and all that. We know Morgan's golf buddies put him forward, so there was never a case of us having to look for a better candidate once Stale had run his course. Obviously you put a camera or mic in front of Saunders and his brain throws out all the words he knows in no particular order. So if Morgan's only dealing with him were a meeting or 2 done under zero pressure, maybe a pint and quick go at the pitch & putt you can see why he thinks like he does. The other stuff is just him not really knowing and throwing out part facts from the back of his head.

Great he knows it was a mistake but would be nice to know at what point did he realise that and does he think he should have binned him a lot earlier.

On the Donny relegation - he was proper done over there by the horrendous deal they had in place with Willie M. The kind of deal everyone thought we would be having with Jorge, thankfully ours was nowt like that. Probably would have relegated them anyway but at least at that club there is another reason.

Not sure if here or the europa thread is the right one but guess it applies to all tickets.

Has anyone had any communication about tickets bought and refund? Just wondering where they are going with this one, not seen anything from the club about it, not sure if I missed it or there just hasn't been anything sent out.

Nothing as yet as the game isn't cancelled, it's just postponed.

Quite possible that if/when they announce a new date, if you can't make it then they'll refund you.

Still makes me laugh that he literally said "my work here is done" right after he relegated Crawley :icon_lol:

Chesterfield have never recovered from his spell in charge. Playoffs in L1 under Cookie and then he gets his greasy paws on the club. They're currently flirting with relegation to Conference North.

As we all know, I advocated getting rid of him after about 2-3 games. But once we'd gone 9 without a win then he really should have been out on his ear before it was too late.

I remember you chuntering after 2 or 3 hours of the announcement ?

I wasn't happy at all (if you'd asked me to list 100 realistic options at the time, he wouldn't have appeared on there) but I did say I'd wait and see how it panned out.

The Blackburn game was horrific (yet oddly lauded on here) and then we started playing for 0-0s against teams who were below us in the table. His chance ended there.

looks like jota's keeping himself busy bringing glory to Telford United :icon_lol:

Did Wolves win that Cowabunga tournament or whatever it was called? Think we were in the final vs Gronigen?

When you look at all the top managers, one of the things they all have in abundance is gravitas, in that if they ever got tired of football they could easily start their own cult. Saunders is almost unique as a football manager in that he has zero. He's the kind of bloke that everyone down a local calls 'dickhead' and nobody knows his real name. He's a ruined soufflé of a man.
