General Wolves News

That wasn't what I meant, at least not quite. You build three-quarters of the ground on the new site while still occupying Molineux and then have a one season share while you flatten the old ground and stick a new South Bank in roughly where the present North Bank is now.

You wouldn't need to ground share. If you had 3 new stands built, you'd also have a new pitch space available. We'd just have one season with 3 stands instead of 4.

You can tell Timmy II realised he'd ballsed up with his shit stirring as he hasn't defended his position on Twitter anything like his attempted justification of the transfer article he fabricated into a big wooden spoon.

Again there I didn't have a problem with the piece per se (I could critique it, but equally anyone could do that with anything I write), it was the headline. Now he doesn't write them. That's standard newspaper practice. But he needs to have a serious word with those that do.

On the whole I would say that they had no non-cynical reason to release that piece today, it's poor on their part. Very poor.

If I were being cynical I'd say it were a placeholder for their intended "Wolves' pre-season has been shite" piece if we'd lost yesterday (but we didn't).

That was Spurs' original plan I believe, although it was meant to be two seasons of three stand stadium as they would've demolished one of the existing stands to accommodate the three new, then complete the last new stand once the old ground had gone.

I think maybe there are elements at the paper who are paid to care more about clicks that Tim and Nathan's relationship with the club. I can imagine there may be a couple of serious conversations to be had at the E&S and between them and Wolves in the morning.

The editor of the E&S is a massive cunt. Not much Tim II can do about that, other than quit.

I've asked him several times why he published that Bettison/Morgan piece. No answer.

Their utterly shameful enock Powell blue plaque campaign showed the paper up for what it is. Wouldn't wipe my arse with it if i had chronic diarrhoea.

Plus they were practically a soapbox for Bill Etheridge whilst he was pretending to run for the UKIP leadership and throughout the general election.

Oh and Peter Rhodes's daily opinion column is woeful. Although I do get a perverse kick out of reading it sometimes.

Aaaaaand, despite Laurie's correspondence directly with thrm rubbishing of the story (that Spiers has tweeted out), the story is still second listing on the E&S home page!

I reckon Wolves give transfer info to Nash because of the shit they write about Wolves.

If the paper was a bit more supportive then spiersy boy might start getting a few scoops

It'd be brilliant if the club banned britney and the paper from attending anything, games, press conferences the lot over this, the E&S needs wolves more than wolves need the E&S

They're desperately trying to stay relevant. They know that unless they produce some kind of inside track on goings on at Molineux (something they haven't had for years) they're going to be bottom of the pile next season. Poor Timbo will be sat on the back row of every press conference, no more pre/post match interviews or exclusive one on ones.

When do we announce the squad numbers for this season?

On tenterhooks - can't be having Rui wearing 11. Just all kinds of wrongness there. That's Khalid Boularouz wearing number 9/Stuart Balmer/Edgar Davids wearing number 1/Asamoah Gyan wearing number 2 levels of wrongness.

Gyan wore/wears 3. However Wilfried Bony still has 2 for Swansea.

I really hope we're not retiring the number one shirt, that would be misplaced. Like everyone I'm pleased Carl is on the road to recovery, he'll always be welcome at the club and doubtless we'll find him something to do if he wants to be involved...but that should be the end of it.

We are not exactly talking Wolves Legend territory here.

Gah. Got them mixed up. This REALLY annoys me!! Still wrong though.

Yeah I completely agree with this. And I can't imagine that's what Carl would expect either?

A keeper wearing 11 is fine by me. A great idea that I hope Patty runs with.

I don't think we will retire the number 1 but I reckon we will keep Ikeme on the squad list until the contract he signed ends and then the Number 1 will be back out for others

There’s a whole generation out there who don’t use smartphones, the internet or football forums that still rely on newspaper print and have had the E&S delivered like clockwork for the past 30 years.

My wife used to have the E&S for 30 years and read it religiously from front to back page (well, nearly - she wouldn't read any of the sports pages) - the only reason she stopped is she's too tight-fisted to pay the 85p or whatever it is they charge these days! :D

Before the world cup I was watching a load of the official FIFA films from the previous tournaments. 1970 onwards. There were odd keeper numbers in those tournaments too. 5 and 7 I seem to remember.

It's not something I can get onboard with, tbh.
