General Wolves News

50k is more than enough for us and I will be very surprised if we did move. I actually think its a very positive interview because they don't rule out moving as an option but ultimately they understand the impact it would have on the fanbase. We haven't had that level of honesty in communicating with the fans before certainly not in Moxeys time and its bloody brilliant.

I do think Laurie is key to much of this, he was a bloody brilliant appointment.

Don't know Wolverhampton area as well as many of you, is there anywhere else they could go which is near enough to the town centre not to be a bloody ballache to get to?

Be surprised if they did it anyway, but from previous discussions on here on other threads there didn't seem to be other sensible 'close' options

Nope. If i54 was ever an option then we missed the boat there some time ago, too much of that site has been built on or bought up.

The Goodyear site is not in any way shape or form feasible.

The E&S have driven this much as they drove the "Wolves close to being done in the transfer market" crap a few weeks ago.

Ignored the E & S article - just a clickbait headline (as usual)

Suspect that a phased rebuild on the current site is what they will ultimately go with, though whether its in the Morgan plan or a revised one is another issue. Could still get a 50,000 seater in there & not sure that we are ever likely to need more than that. Will still be one of of the top ten English stadiums by capacity

We'd have to move 4-5 miles out towards the M54 motorway north of the city,it's about the only place big enough to build what we'd need, stadium size and parking wise, but you'd lose the atmosphere and city centre pubs would lose thousands

Plus Jaguar are on the majority of the available land and there is new stuff going up now on the side of the Wobaston Road. There really is nowhere up there to put this.

I could only think of a few places if we did move. None of which are palatable.

The rugby club land at Castleccroft would be big enough but there's no infrastructure there and the residents may get a bit cheesed off their lovely big houses are worth less.

West Park - much like Everton's move across Stanley Park. Probably no chance.

The old Royal Hospital - one of the grim areas in England but there's space. May need police escorts for night games!

Already beat me to it along the M54 towards the JLR plant would probably be the best area but much of that space is still being actively invested in (despite what some fearmongers might say)

I don't think it will happen plenty of scope where we are but it's just nice that they are talking openly about the options.

The land by the M54 is Stafford controlled not Wolverhampton controlled as far as I know.

Same as Johnny said. Aldersley Stadium has plenty of land and also next to Aldersley High School but it’d never happen.

50/50 share. When the company my wife works for moved there they had to deal with both.

Yep. The border into Staffs is just past the island that turns you off into Pendeford on the Wobaston Road.

It is - the sign is at the top of the hill about fifty yards past the Lloyds Bank building. And the staffs border then turns left and there is a staffs sign at the roundabout at the end of the Droveway on the edge of Pendeford by the canal bridge.

There's been talk for about thirty years about Brinsford Parkway railway station being built there - it would help with transport too, but the land set aside for that pretty much means you can't go east of A449 without having to revisit fitting everything in.

Having the ground outside the geographical footprint of the City of Wolverhampton is basically a non-starter.

Council can't let that happen. A successful team is huge for the City centre.
They should do whatever they can to help the club stay where they are.

PS How are the hols in Ireland going?

I dunno. I'm here as my passport was expired! Think Squeeze and the kids are having a decent time. They haven't phoned since about ten minutes after they arrived. Apparently the dog liked the holiday cottage so much he took a piss all over the place as soon as he got there.

Ah...ok. plus side you are at the game next week then

Yes. That is the plus side. Downside is I am doing some decorating and sorting out the garden fence next week.
