"He can see where the club is going"

Got to admire Sa and his enthusiasm for Championship football.

@Deutsch Wolf Don't read Hobbs comments on Sa's new deal. Just for your own sanity

I don't mind Sa and think at times he gets a rough deal but even I am looking at the comments questioning if we have another Sa they are not telling us about

I am looking at the comments questioning if we have another club they are not telling us about

Head coach Gary O'Neil added: "The main message around Jose is we're delighted to have a top goalkeeper at the club, you know if you're suffering a tough spell and there's balls coming in the box, he is going to come and claim them.

"When the team start to suffer tough spells good goalkeepers seem to grow. You can see them behind going, 'no worries I'll get us through this bit.'

"I always get that sense from Jose, he can get through us those bits where they might not be going our way and that's a huge quality to have.

"It's a huge bonus for everyone around the club. We can still improve him, from the first few performances he has made some big saves, we're working hard with him on decision-making and control."

To be fair to Sa - he has definitely improved a lot in terms of claiming crosses, I wouldn't have him down as elite in that respect but he's largely decent at it these days. Probably better than Rui was in that one area.

It's the ridiculous unforced stuff that has always been his problem and if anything that's getting worse.

That's the quibble I have with the final sentence in the quote which Lupo put up, the intention is correct, I'm just not sure you can coach the spontaneous out of him

As per the comment above that Lupo shared, they've got to think us fans are fucking thick. I mean, literally everything above is nonsense, isn't it?

Gary. We watch the matches. We know when a player is doing well and we know when someone isn't. In the last two games alone, we've seen the keeper you suggest "grows in tough spells" slice a kick out, not even reaching the half way line, which immediately resulted in a goal against. We've then watched him make the same mistake in the next match (i.e. not holding on to the ball and letting us get organised) rolling it out in a stupid place and immediately putting his teammates under pressure, resulting in us conceding again.

Stop treating us like we're stupid. Stop chatting absolute shite.

You can limit it though

Here we have a keeper who is prone to passing to the wrong team...so what we will do is play the ball across the back line and back to him, numerous times a game and generally under pressure and increase the risk of it happening

I would question the statement that when the team is suffering he will stand up. yes he has won us points with big saves but any game where our team lose their heads, he will eventually join in with them. Leeds in the 3-2 the biggest example of that happening

I don't any of what is said is because they think the fans are fucking thick its just a by-product of them defending an action

Give a player a new deal they are going to speak about it and not going to say "He ain't perfect but he is the best we have got and our last 2 shopping trips for keepers are not looking to sharp now. So we gave him a payrise"

Sa has his faults but equally Lage, JL and GO have played a part in those faults by insisting we still stick to a playing method that will highlight the weak areas. Not selling him or replacing him then you make changes. Won't cut out everything but will drastically reduce it.

Don't give him a new deal or say anything then?

Wait until his performances improve or he stops dropping clangers every match. Then give him a new deal if you have to.

New Football Operations Manager Luke Shelley joins from Telford

I think I know him! Sure he played for Nova United with my lad.

It's just some back office role he'll be doing for us? Not reporting in to Hobbs and giving him the lowdown on Shropshire's finest footballers.

They treat the fans like they 're stupid because many of them are.
The comments on SM celebrating Sa's new contract are genuinely concerning.
The majority seem to think he is an excellent keeper.
