General Wolves News

Neto and Kilman both singled out O'Neil for specific praise after the City game when they didn't have to so, regardless of my opinion on the wisdom of his appointment, that's a positive sign

The biggest load of bollocks was Lopetegui leaving allowed us to put our plans in place a year earlier than intended, essentially spinning him leaving as a positive.

It is bollocks in a sense, because I doubt we'd have gone this way before Lopetegui moved on.

I actually think it's a much better way to run a club of our size though. It's obviously a buzz phrase at the moment but Brighton are run in a similar way, De Zerbi has done a great job but when he leaves they won't have a huge change in style. It will be a continuation of the style that is implemented by the club with the players they bring in.

Kilman has played well last 2 games.

I guess there would have been more conversation about Sa had we not won, their free kick, was it a howler? Or more a good free kick but he should have done better? Or totally not to blame?

Somewhere in the middle for me, not a howler and wouldn't blame him as it was the walls side, a save I think a keeper could have made, rather than one I'd expect them to

A good free kick but not unsaveable. Not a howler to add to his extensive catalogue, not one to totally write off.

It's not about expecting him to be flawless, it's getting rid of the absolutely insane errors that chuck away goals out of nowhere.

Yeah I think that's fair, it was all about the timing of his "bounce" meant he couldn't get the leap he needed to keep it out.

Along with Kilman that's 2 games in a row without a significant mistake, long may it continue.

I think both of them were probably helped by the performances at Portman Road!

On the free kick I would put the praise on Alvarez. That is fairly close in and to get it up and over the wall at the speed he did is what has done Sa.
Can maybe question his starting point but as a keeper he is probably thinking if gets over the wall he might have to float it a bit and gives him a chance to get across. Would be more concerned if the free kick had gone in the other side.

Not a howler, he will be pissed off but for me, a great free kick.

The Dawson/Sa mix up in the first half at Luton?

The ball out to Lemina in the same game would have been talked about more if the penalty decision itself wasn't so horrendous

Most of his goals have a degree of fortune about them, but if you don’t buy a ticket you don’t win the raffle. He gets in the box and he hits the target, no one else seems capable of executing these basic skills.
I looked closely at his winning goal v City and his first shot was blocked and when it came back to him (lucky boy) he whacked it, yes towards the goal, so it would have counted as being on target, but he didn't slot it coolly into the top corner, or even into an empty bit of goal, he just walloped it and it hit a defender's leg before it went in. So close to being blocked, SO close! I think there are a few of them, but as we keep saying, they're in so they count.... Just!

Not sure you looked *that* closely as it hits Walker around the neck/shoulder :D

Not much wrong with the finish, hit high and hard enough that Walker was unlikely to block it.

Ok, I looked on Saturday and today is miles away, you all know how good my memory is, but the point is, it hit Walker close to his head/shoulder, as I said very close to being deflected or blocked, I mean just from that photograph, there's an awful lot of empty space/goal to Walker's right, I'd have been much more comforted if Hwang had skilfully picked that area .

Do you think the more you watch the goal the chance of Walker blocking it increases?

Went the correct side for me with how the ball drops and his body shape, try and drag that near side (to Walker's right) and it's a much more difficult first time finish, could easily miss. Walker's also moving to his right, you beat him more easily by going against his momentum.

Well everyone bar Seyi would take the shot. He stopped and picked a defender up with the goal at his mercy.
