General Wolves News

We finished 7th and got to the Europa QF the season he left!!! He scored 7 and got 5 assists that very season!?

Along with the previous season it was the best season in my lifetime, i must have missed those games when he was "completely ineffective" as we juggled winning in Europe with a really good Premier league season!
People are rewriting history. Doc was central to everything positive under Nuno, it started going wrong when he left.

Extend it to the last 23 league games and it's only 15%. Damn stats.
So he actually improved the longer he was with us?

Yet some would have us believe he had become "completely ineffective". How very curious.

Don't think anyone has ever said Doc was completely ineffective (in his Nuno years) just that he had limitations and was on a downward spiral when he left. A few coaches since have hardly used him which suggests Doc 2023 isn't as good as Doc 2019
Someone's just proven with stats (I know right, what have stats ever told us?) that he improved towards the end of the season from the middle of it!

I'm sure if we had Spurs and Atleti's options at RB we'd not be seeing too much of him either.

We have Nelson Semedo, hence we'll probably see quite a lot of the grumpy Irishman.

Let's just agree that the people that liked Doc and the people who didn't like Doc will never agree and leave it at that...

At least we all think him coming back now is shit (apart from El Duderino)

FFS - if the transfer window wasn't bad enough already, do we really need to go over this topic for the millionth time? Just when the Adama chat finally came to a close, too.

Hobbs has a lot to answer for.
Doc is our marquee signing. His return should be heralded the same as previous marquee signings - Neves, Boly, Moutinho, Neil Emblen...

Not really imv, Doc had about 8 years of not being fit for purpose, followed by 2 years of excellent service, then a gradual deteriation (Im not particularly a Doc hater btw)
Silva was chucked in after Rauls injury when nowhere near ready cos we had no other options, he then struggled and rarely got much game time after before being shipped out.

I do think Docs criticism has been OTT at times.
Wow I missed the fun seeing the rest of the thread!

Without trying to carry it on too much (at the same time, people don’t have to read it, and nothing else is happening so it would be “no new posts” otherwise).

It’s no different the comparisons. He was a cheap punt from the LoI who wasn’t picking himself in the team. And It was also only really 3 seasons as a starter. He then had 3 great seasons, the best seasons most of us have ever and most likely will ever see. We then sold for a handsome profit and re-signed for free.

The other signed for a huge fee way above his value where his family got paid millions, wasn’t good enough, has affected the clubs ability to sign players since and hasn’t done anything for the club yet. That’s not Fabio’s fault just like it wasn’t Doherty’s fault sections of the fan base thought he was shit (6-8 years ago!) but he was still being picked, but has since actually done something for the club on the pitch and on the balance sheet.

So saying “not sure what he’s done to warrant the abuse” but being absolutely fine to lay into Doherty is IMO bollocks.

I could have used Semedo and the point would still stand. Players who have polarising views get OTT opinions from each side. People thought Semedo was shit so then the others have to over exaggerate something he does to make his seem better than he is “he carries the ball well” being my favourite. Rather than just accepting he’s an average FB.

Same for Fabio. People said he was shit so then others big him up to he the best since sliced bread (not neccessairily on here). I’m optimistic he will be good this year after Wednesday, but the answer is always in the middle of those arguments. He isn’t terrible and he’s not a “star boy” or whatever.

Edit - oh and add Kilman to that too

Let's be honest, 15% is shit compared to Oskar Buurs 100% goal involvement ratio at wolves. So Buur>Trent Alexander Arnold, the stats prove it.

At least Adama is a player I genuinely want to be successful. Seems a good person.

Would be much like Doc for me, pretty far from ideal but I wouldn't be busting out the pitchforks.

Fosun's management of expectation has been a resounding success :)

It's not that I don't think it's shit. I just believe it's less shit than the status quo (Semedo).
