Fulham 2-0 verdict thread

What time is it on didn’t even know about it?

Something daft like 2am on a Saturday morning. Available on podcast though which I listen to. Vickery really is wasted, though he gets most of his income from his work in South America instead of the beeb. Don’t think he’s missed the phone in for 20 years!

Recommend listening to the back catalogue.

Talking of commentators, heard Hendrie on the Hull v Sheff U game, last Friday.

Jeez, absolute AIDS for the ears.

Unless you're an insomniac then just grab the podcast (and hope Dotun isn't hosting, the massive prick).

Higginbotham really impressed me the one time I caught a moody stream of one of our U21 (as was) games on MUTV, he'd properly done his research into our players. He is excellent. I quite like Hinchcliffe as well, Goodman is decent too, you can tell he holds back when commenting on us though - he properly loved his time here and doesn't want to come across as biased.

I do a lot of night working so it’s not a problem.

One of the few times that football punditry on talkshite is listenable is when Vickery is discussing South America. The depth and level of his knowledge is tremendous and his clear enthusiasm for the subject matter shines through in every word. I like Honigstein and Auclair very much too. Not such a big fan of Balague, but that is probably just my personal taste.

No-one is surpassing Birtles for me. The kind of bloke who'll take the next table to you at the pub and start mouthing off with his fucking van driver opinions, hoping you agree with him until eventually you go and stand by the bar. Total prick.

Would be delighted if they binned of Jim White or Brazil and someone like Vickery on but it’s never going to happen. Remember him warning Everton fans about a centre half they had signed who was absolute dross he was proved right in the end after a few decent games.

But the absolute worst writer on football bar fucking none is that utter buffoon McNulty. Unreadable, trite, crass bollocks pours from his keyboard, fueled by a complete lack of knowledge of anything outside the big six.

Funes Mori?

Funes Mori?

Yep that’s him Vickery said he was bang average couple ex Everton players then criticised Vickery judgement after a couple of decent games they went very quiet after that.

Also the only reason i torture myself listening to the incredibly unfunny H&J is to hear Vickery.... extremely wasted in this country.
Loved hearing about El Tanque Sisley the other week in Uruguay, broke up the monotony of Chelsea,Spurs,Chelsea,spurs......zzzzzz

Jermaine Jenas on MOTD deserves a mention

Big Al's not on this week, he's off on his annual skiing trip and left the show in the hands of Max Rushden

Clinton Morrison - da wannabee gangsta innit blud

On the continent podcast is a good listen, it's the same host as the Football Ramble, but much better than the Ramble.

I used to really enjoy the European football show on BT too DW, but it just didn't get the viewers, which I guess just underlines why twats like Saunders and Brazil can have successful careers in football punditry but experts like Vickery or Andy Brassell don't get a look in.

This is what’s so annoying especially with the likes of talksport it’s very much a case of who you know not what you know. The two morning shows are just a shocking case of towing the party line and getting your mates on air on a periodic basis.
Jim White show I find patronising at times.

Bloody hell he was terrible. And yet ANOTHER disciple from the Trevor Francis school of punditry (explaining what you've just seen - which is pretty useless if you have a working pair of eyes). On Sky's FL coverage, I do like Don Goodman and Andy Hinchcliffe and would 100% agree that Gary Birtles is a diabolically bad commentator.

As for BT Sport - I watched their version of Soccer Saturday a few months ago, and it was diabolical. Chris Sutton is there purely to try and force some kind of spat with someone, it's painful to watch and is so incredibly fake it's laughable. I still watch Jeff and co on Soccer Saturday as I still find it very entertaining, even if some of their main panelists are total nobheads (Charlie fucking Nicholas being the worst culprit). I don't have BT anymore which is no bad thing seeing as they had Hoddle and Saunders on the same show that once. Fucking hell.

And I know I'm in the minority but I really don't mind Alan Shearer on MoTD. He seems to rub people up the wrong way for some reason but I don't know why - I think he comes across fairly well. He's not amongst the very best but he's absolutely nowhere near the worst.

I don't mind Shearer, much worse out there than him. Neville and Carra are top for me. Great pundits. Have warmed to Henry as well recently. The piece he did, definitely with Carra and possibly Neville, on Peps tactics at Barca was a good watch

Yeah Neville and Carragher are my 2 favourites. I like Bilic as well and hope he's on the BBC's World Cup team.

Hendrie reminds me of Dean Windass's ill faited season as a SKY pundit, he didnt last long either.

Was with a Fulham fan last night and he said it was by far the best they’ve played also. Although, they’re on a good run they’ve scrapped quite a few of the results.

Charlie 'I'm sitting there thinking' Nicholas

Yeah he's a bellface, but I'd rather watch him than fucking Merson. Even the way he screams 'GOOOOAAAWWWW' boils my piss.
