France here we come and other 2015/16 Pre-Season Stuff

Ikeme

Iorfa Stearman Hause Golbourne

Coady

Evans------------------Rowe

Jacobs

Afobe Dicko

Flatt, Wilson, Doherty, Enobakhare, Ronan, EEL

No McDonald or Edwards. Strange.

Wolves twitter saying that it's 4-4-1-1 with Jacobs on the right.

Rowe on the left and Jacobs on the right.
Bleurgh
Mick v2.0

Through ball from Afobe who is playing behind Dicko.

Terrible pass from Burton to give it to Afobe in the final 3rd. Dragged three defenders to him and he turned and slid it through to Dicko who took one touch and stuck it in the corner with the outside of his foot. Too easy. Sloppy from Burton.

It's 442 in possession, Afobe dropping back to make it a 5 when they have the ball. Forwards very lively, Ikeme lucky to survive dropping a tame shot which they hit the post from a rebound. Rowe has a criminal pony tail

Yeah was just about to say Rowe has a really dodgy Leia style bun at the back. Just awful.

Afobe hits the post after dispossessing the defender on the 18 yard line and being one on one with the keeper.

Ronan & EEL on for Evans & Golbourne

Team at Corby: McCarey, Simpson, Hayden, Upton, Deslandes, Ismail, Weeks, Price, Graham, Rainey, Reid.

Tommy Rowe's dodgy barnet:

He must think he's Gareth Bale or something!

McDonald wasn't in the squad because he's unsettled.

2702 attendance today and a good half of that was Wolves fans, who were the only ones who made any noise.

Both teams hit the left hand post. Second half was a drab affair apart from a 10 min spell at the end for Burton when they had a goal ruled out offside. Which was blatantly obvious even from the half way line. No idea why the home fans even bothered cheering for the goal.

Shouldn't read too much into pre seasons games, but a few thoughts:

Not the worst pre season game I've seen, more intensity than many although as you'd expect not 100%

We looked a lot more solid with the starting defence of Iorfa, Stearman, Hause, Golbourne than we did post subs of Doherty, Stearman. EEL, Hause, not that the replacements played badly

Coady gives us something we don't have, more mobile than Price, tougher in the tackle, probably not as neat and tidy. The only midfielder we have I'd say would look comfortable in a 2

Afobe and Dicko, both quick and strong. Obvious to see why Kenny wants them both on the pitch, but we are still struggling to find the right formation to do so with the personnel available

Rowe and Jacobs individually were ok, but as a 2 no cutting edge and nothing that is going to stretch the opposition. Could maybe play one if RVLP were on the other side. Realistically we need at least one new winger though, but we knew that already

The crowd had a buzz about it when Ronan came on. He was busy and played one fantastic cross field ball to Jacobs. Difficult to see how you could fit into the first 11 with 2 up top, but could see him making the bench this year

Bright played like a 7 year old full of enthusiasm, all over the place chasing the ball, not a massive fan of passing or laying it off though. Too early to say if he offer the first team anything at the moment. Still need another striker to come in for me.
