And every single team talk, no matter what I say or how I say it, the only fucking reaction I get is 'looked to switch off'.

Meh, there are issues with the match engine. I told you that and recommended waiting for the next patch before buying it but you seem to have written it off already.

The rest of the game is a vast improvement on 12. I still think the ME is superior in almost every way than last year, there's no glaring exploits available to implement any more. Your players will very occasionally do something ridiculous, but then so do the oppositions so it balances out. Granted, that's still not ideal but it's a completely new ME with the view to benefit the game in the long run.

If you're past experience is Sunday League, your players won't listen to you for a while. You have to build up a rapport with them now and get to know what they respond to. If you're inconsistent with praise and criticism they'll get pissed off with you. Much more difficult, but much more realistic.

With regards to the highlights - they changed it so 'key' is now jut the goals and really good chances and 'extended' is more like what 'key' highlights were in FM12 then it's got comprehensive or something which is even more and then obviously the full match option.

I don't think I pay as much attention to the match engine as others (or don't care as much?) as I don't mind it, haven't had too many stupid goals or anything.

+1, don't use 'key' if you want to view the game. I can go an entire game with only 2-3 bits of footage on key, use comprehensive or extended.

Do you use different tones and suggestions? I've found that the results are always much better if you use a different tone between the team/individual talks. And don't use aggressive or passionate too often. I normally do a calm or assertive "play your natural game" or "enjoy the game" team talk to relax them, then do a a calm or assertive (whichever I didn't pick for team) "there's much more to come from you and I believe you've got what it takes" individual talk to motivate them. Players are also a lot more responsive to negative praise on this version, so heap it on them if they're playing like shit. Make sure to rotate between the different tones or they stop responding, and accept that sometimes you need to simply say something different which won't have any effect.

I'll agree with that bit-- there are definitely more ridiculous errors from players in this years version, but players also act particularly clever sometimes. Nice backheel assists, etc. One of my biggest complaints was wingers not cutting to the inside and forwards running all the way to the sides and hugging the line instead of weaving through the middle. Both have been fixed. The annoying mistakes are still extremely aggravating, but I've been playing a team from the bottom so I wasn't sure if that got fixed with better players. I've also found that tweaking individual tactics is a lot more useful this year; I've had to alter my W, FB, and CB to get acceptable results.

I'm trying to persevere with it but it's making it difficult. One particular 'highlight' of the ME nearly made me shut the game down as soon as I saw it, Sako took the ball up the left flank and smashed in a cross which went too deep for everybody, it then proceeded to curl away from goal and carried on back down the opposite flank, past the halfway line and ended up back in our own 18 yard area. Also how the likes of Burnley can turn up at Molineux and have over 80% of possession while we can't string three passes together and insist on lumping it to nobody in particular even though passing is set to short. Maybe the patch will sort it all out but at the moment it's just too shit.

I have noticed a lot more uh... wayward passes and shots, but never quite the dramatic! :icon_lol:

I couldn't believe I was actually watching it. I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't make a difference to the outcome of the game but things like that really do piss me off, and there are an extraordinary amount of shots being hit that are curling out for throw ins. Team talks still ain't doing it for me either, that's one aspect of the game that's been well and truly broken since FM12 in my opinion.

I've noticed some stuff like that, a little bit weird but overall I enjoy playing the game :)

I've seen one of them Booz! Hilarious but ridiculous.

I've not had your issues with team talks, I get the occassional "looks to have switched off" but not in every game.

We've managed to put a run together, now sitting one point behind Arsenal who are fifth and they're up next. Wigan did the double over me, 6-1 on aggregate.

I'm not looking to change much in the upcoming summer, I think we'll benefit from some continuity. It seems I'll have a fight to keep Ademilson who Real and Barca are creaming themselves over.

Got promoted to League 1 today. Only 1 season in League 2! Lets go tigers, Gloucester rules!

With 12 games to go I'm 5th, and got a fairly decent run in. Moses has been a great signing and Odjidja scored on his first start (on loan)

Do you guys bother with a Director of Football? Just appointed Damien Commolli :icon_lol:

We're 8th in the Championship after seven games. Took 2 points from our first four games which had me believing I was Mick, Stale and Deano all rolled into one, but a 5-0 thumping of Leeds (in which we were awarded four penalties but only scored two) saw two more wins follow that. I've actually had one positive reaction from a team talk too, I'm thinking of just skipping those to be honest.

Well I bought the game last Saturday. Had a look on here and a few other sites just to get a few tips on signings, tactics etc and then started a game as Wolves.

I bought players like Planas, Fierro,Will Hughes and a few others I can't recall and did start off decent but I lost a few games and never recovered, I tried changing from 4-4-2 to 4-2-3-1 and also tried changing the personnel but nothing would work. I also noticed the team talks thing, some players look motivated others switch off randomly. Fierro was rancid his record was played 18 scored 0.

Anyway got pissed off with that game decided to (mostly) get rid of the thoughts i'd picked up of the internet and play it my own way and sign my own players.

Current game is going loads better, currently top of the league having played 14 games and my current record is W-11 D-1 L-2 I've only conceded 7 goals aswell.

I've used a flat 4-4-2;

Sold - Stearman, Doherty, Zubar, Craddock, Jonsson, Edwards, Mouyokolo

Signed - James Chester, Wes Hoolahan (who was on the transfer list) Planas, Chris Burke

I paired Chester with Johnson to start with but he broke his leg in his first few games so Berra is back in, Hoolahan is excellent next to Henry, Planas I got in anyway for left back cover but he wants to leave as he cant settle, Chris Burke I start on the right and he's been awesome.

-------------------Ikeme-------------------

Foley------Johnson--Berra--------Ward

Burke----Hoolahan--Henry--------Sako

------------Doyle-----Sigurdarson-------

Still use Peszko, Doumbia, SEB, Batth, Hunt, Margreitter off the bench and I will use O'Hara once he's fit.

I think the best thing to do when starting a new game is mess about with it a bit and don't take too much notice of how others have played it. I'm still very wary though as things seem to be going too well atm and I'm concerned if I do lose a game i'm going to go on one of those ridiculous losing streaks again.

Managed another quick go last night, and after our wank start things seem to be picking up. Started with a 2-0 win over Burnley in the League Cup with Hitzelsperger making his debut, then a 1-1 draw with Palace at home. The Palace game nearly had me punching my screen as we battered them (19 shots to 5, 10 on target to 2) but only just scraped an equaliser in the 88th minute.
Last up was Middlesbro at home which we won 3-0. The second two goals were really well worked goals, and I'm hoping the patch fixes the majority of the ME bugs as I can now see that it may be a good ME in the making. I'm not a convert yet as it still is piss poor for the amount of shit it's got in it, but I'll reserve full judgement until after the patch.
We're now sitting 7th in the table two points off first place, and SEB is on 8 goals from 9 games. Danny Batth is performing brilliantly too.

Team talks are still rarely working and I have a huge problem with my 4-2-3-1 tactic I imported from FM12 as it keeps swapping my AMC for my ST during the game. No matter how many times I go into tactics and swap them back they just keep going back out of position. That really is a pisser.

I got Kaiserslautern promoted as champions at the first attempt, although it did go to the final game and with Köln losing we pipped them at the post. Managed to do so without signing anyone owing to a paltry transfer budget which I had to throw at the wage side of things to try and balance the books and even that was around £15k/pw over the top. This season, though, I've been rewarded with a £120k per week raise in wage budget and a transfer kitty amounting to a mouth-watering £1.3m. Yes, you read right: £1.3m. Not £13m. For a mid-table finish.

Anyway, got Bodo Illgner in as my DoF and he's signed some good players on loan but has agreed terms with a winger who I've never heard of and doesn't look all that brilliant, plus the fee he's negotiated evaporates my remaining kitty as I spent £600k on Jan Lecjaks. Happy days.

I make sure that I'm set to finalize all signings rather than the DoF, they seem to sign stupid players pretty often.

It's extremely annoying that after being promoted your team doesn't show up as such until halfway through the transfer window when you've already missed out on a ton of potential signings.

Just conceded from 70 yards from open play as my keeper just sat and watched it fly over him.

Just beat Noblot 2-0 and lost Coyle his job. If the game now turns to shit that was worth it. We moved top of the table on goal difference after that as well.
