Euro 2020

I was as unimpressed as most with the line up but, credit where it’s due, I thought we controlled the game and Phillips was impressive and Sterling took his goal well. A deserved victory.

First time I’ve heard Mings speak. Came across well, tbf. Seems to have a good relationship with Coads, too. Saw them embrace at the final whistle.

According to my son who plays more attention to some of the social stuff coming out of the camp than I do they are best mates

There was a video about their bromance last week. They room together and both just seem happy to be where they are.
I can’t see Coady getting a game now bar an emergency.

Thought he came across well too. Especially in dealing with the moronic question “Was it a typical tournament game in many ways?”

He does speak very well, he only becomes a moron/malicious when he crosses the white line. Admittedly, he was perfectly adequate this afternoon.

Think Coady will play the third game if we beat Scotland

Pandev scores for the North Macedonians. Great to see, always been a very technically gifted individual.

A fan fell in the stands at Wembley shortly after kickoff and is now in hospital in what Wembley officials call a serious condition

More entertaining than the England match so far, tbh.
Two teams with no real expectations going out an enjoying themselves I guess. With the tournaments ludicrous format then a win here could potentially get one of these teams through. Ukraine and the Dutch are no great shakes either so this group is relatively open.

The England game might end up being like when we played Italy in Brazil, it felt like an okay result and performance to many initially and that we would get going and get out the group, until you saw how much Italy had regressed when they played someone else! Not saying we were bad, just that I think Croatia have massively regressed by the looks of that.

Get its early but neither England or Croatia look like they will be on any ones wall charts too far past the groups if today's game is an indication of their quality.

You can say that but there's not been a meeting of two good teams as yet. Belgium and Italy both trounced two very poor sides. Croatia haven't slipped anywhere near as far as Turkey, and Russia are universally terrible in major tournaments. Nothing to be massively learned from the opening fixtures so far.

Croatia aren't what they were but 3 of their front 6 had played full seasons for Inter. Then you've got Modric and Kovacic. They're not some mickey mouse outfit.

Of the team that lost to Italy in 2014 I think only Cahill would get in now. At a push.

Thought it was a very professional performance against a decent if ageing side. Looked as controlled as I've seen England, no real panics and played some nice stuff on occasion

ITV: fuck off with cutting to an ad during a national anthem

How on earth have the Dutch ended up with Stekelenburg back in goal?

They're a real weird mix of players in this squad. Assorted tat and then a few bits of proper quality.
