Euro 2020

What a cross. What a header. De Boer and Nuno must have gone on the same set piece coaching course. High line, some drop some don’t. Leaves big space to deliver into and the strikers played onside and plants it.

What the fuck is the Ukraine keeper doing

Mad game mixture of some quality and some absolute amateurish defending/goalkeeping.

Dutch have been better but that’s still a crummy way to go behind again after all that work.

Still can’t understand his thinking didn’t hit hard enough to go out of play so must have thought there was a player out there.

He was playing it out wide expecting the FB to ask for the ball back after playing the back pass. Wasn’t really on and is just a totally unnecessary risk. Just hit down the middle.

More awful goalkeeping.
I have been tracking the keepers on a forum elsewhere and this is how I have ranked the performances so far.

1)Sommer
2)Donnaruma
3) Cakir
4)Ward
5)Dimitrievski
6)Pickford
7) Livakovic
8) Stekelenburg
9) Bachmann
10) Hradecky
11) Bushchan
12) Schmeichel

Bushchan made 4 total saves and 3 of them were very good ones, so for that reason I have him above Schmeichel, who didn't make a save but did make an error. Don't have the Bel-Rus keepers as missed the first half of that game.

The Dutch are way too rickety, will get through the weakest group but not much after that.

Hradecky kept a clean sheet and saved a penalty though and Bachmann was at fault for North Macedonia's goal?

Yeah true, it was an awful pen and he looked very unsure a couple of times and twice did some appalling punching of the ball, get he was under pressure but it wasn't a convincing performance in total, Bachmann made a great stop late on though when it was 2-1.

I do find it odd. Pickford looks awful for Everton at times but an absolute calm assured blonde Allisson for England.

Yeah, the notes I made for him was that there were a few times his distribution could have been quicker, he claimed a couple of crosses and was well set for the only real work he had, which was the deflected shot. There was the bit of play near the end where the ball was looped up and Peresic was trying to get around Walker who blocked him off, I would have preferred to see him come for that but that's a very minor point and he was alert to what was happening, and a couple of movements later did come out and stop a cross that was put in, so all in all a very solid appearance from him.

He didn’t need to come for that. Walker blocked the forward perfectly.

Very much so. he comes for that and he risks essentially whacking Walker and the ball dropping for a tap in.
He could see Walker was in charge of that so sensible leave for me

I can only think of two mistakes he's made for England:

1) Vs Belgium at the World Cup when he weirdly went for a shot with the wrong hand and flapped it in (didn't matter though, arguably we were trying to lose that game anyway :D)

2) Penalty vs Denmark, but it was shit defending too and we were all over the place after Slab needlessly got himself sent off

He's been very solid at international level.

Not sure why he was asked to kick it out to Sterling yesterday - obviously a plan as we stopped it as soon as Bellingham & DCL came on, then every kick went down the middle - you'd have to ask the manager that.

He did block it well but that doesn't change the fact that letting the ball drop that close to your goal isn't something you look for, striker is first to that and it's nearly always a goal in that situation, it's a very minor mark down, that situation isn't even in the highlights I just looked at to check again.

Some incredible statements about how good Scotland are Craig Brown says they should at least be reaching the QF. Ahead of who?
France
Belgium
England
Spain
Italy
Germany
Portugal
Netherlands
Croatia

All have better squads and about another 6 teams would argue they’re better to.
Yep shocks can happen but expecting a QF appearance at minimum is being optimistic.
