Euro 2020

I was reading something the other day that he's instigated a load of changes in their domestic structure which the Belgian FA think are working really well, so he has goodwill from that.

But ultimately I'd be surprised if he ever won them a tournament and surely that's all that matters. Appoint him as technical director or whatever if you want him to do all the other stuff, he's there to manage the team.

Interesting, and makes sense I guess. Though in a sense you're only aiding development to a point where you're still massively hampered by the actual manager. Though, I would have openly said the exact same thing upon hiring Southgate mind you!

Madness!

So many bad managers in international football, proving themselves as such, and getting to carry on. I wonder why that is?
Its a strange one.
I believe Southgate is more tuned to being an international manager than a club one.

If he wins this tournament, and has a good world cup, it's conceivable he could be our greatest ever manager.
Yet he was poor at club level.

Club and International are miles apart in how they work. Just listen to the players talk about Southgate (and guys like Ferdinand, Shearer, Micah Richards, etc) the pundits stilñ have a lot of contact woth players away from the screen yet everyone of them are full of praise for the way Southgate treats them.

His tactics are always spot on.

He needs to Win Wednesday to be up there with Sir Alf, he is already ahead of Robson and Venebles for me.

I get the impression there is less "tribalism" in the England squad now. From the outside it looks like all the players get on rather then forming cliques based on which club they're from.

I think his communication, man management and all that sort of stuff are great and that is ideal for international football. There isn’t much time on the football pitch to “coach” the players so being rubbish in this regard doesn’t matter (not saying he is.

Is he good tactically? Don’t know. Think he’s a bit cautious and largely having better players is winning us games. I think he’s similar to OGS. OGS has United finishing 2nd because they have really good players and he appears to be a good man manager. Although I think with a better coach/tactician then they’d be closer to City competing and better in Europe.

The next week might answer some questions, particularly if we fall behind and he has to make changes to win the game etc.

I think continuity is essential to get something off a group of players to gather as a team and feel safe and harmony...dont do a watford or everton then

Morata dropped, not difficult to see why, but still a big call

Looking forward to this one. Just hope Spain don’t bore it to death, which would be a shame.

Been a decent start to this game, both teams trying to get forward.

Spain going to pay for not having a centre forward the most likely outcome in this one I think.

I have put a cheeky bid on Spain because they were underdogs and a good odds..still have more money on Italy though to go through but will get money back and a bit more if Spain win

Azpi is such a good defender, cant believe Lampard played James instead of him

Italy somehow are able to leave a bit in there challenges and get quite soft free kicks
