Euro 2016 watch

Each to their own, I think he looks steady there now, gives them decent balance on the opposite side to Martial compared to when Mata is stuck out there but utilises space between the lines quite well and happy to drift in more centrally when he can or needs to, was popping up with a few goals at one point too.

He's certainly not one to be building a team round or anything and couldn't even complain if he were upgraded on come summer but for the first team I could actually see him carving out a Premier League career now, certainly have him miles ahead of Walcott or Chamberlain at the moment who've been largely anonymous this season.

Lingard is better than Townsend.

Not an ideal choice either way though. I'd have Walcott personally but assume that he'll already be going anyway.

Nine months out for Welbeck.

Another long term injury for welbeck..bad luck. I would have Lingard over Townsend aswell

Think you could tell when the injury happened by the look on his face alone that it was a bad one (even if it didn't look it).

That's a real blow for England. Welbz suits our system well and his goal return is great at international level.

Personally I wouldn't be taking Lingard OR Townsend as neither are good enough. There's an argument to take someone like Carroll or Defoe but I can't imagine either of them getting ahead of the likes of Kane, Rooney, Vardy etc.

I would take Antonio if we want another wide option.

I would think that Welbz being ruled out plus his improved form since Christmas will mean Lallana has a very good chance of starting on the left (whichever way we set up) now.

Shit news for welbeck and england, always looks really good for England.

As DW says got to be lallana now, I would have him and sterling either side of alli & Wilshire.

Hodgson was only taking 5 forwards in the first place as he couldn't really leave any of them out. He favours 4 so he'll replace with an attacking midfielder, most likely Walcott

? I don't think Sterling is anywhere near the starting team myself.
Midfield and strikers I expect are from these 6
Rooney
Kane
Alli
Wilshire
Henderson
Dier
Lallana

Rooney will get shoehorned in somewhere. He was absolutely rancid last night barring his quick feet to get Martial free for the second.

Lofted Hollywood ball to the wings time after time. Shite.

He was poor in that role, pundits seem to think that the Hollywood balls mean he can 'do a scholes'. Not once can I remember him breaking a line with a pass through the middle. For me Rooney has to play either as one of a front two or on the right of a three like he did against France.

Rooney spent inordinate amounts of the game last night stood ten yards in front of the centre halves, right alongside Schneiderlin/Carrick. Crazy tactics. There's no way he is ever going to see out the end of his career in that kind of role, he doesn't have any of the attributes required.

In that position last night he reminded my of a more mobile Jamie O'Hara

That's why I wouldn't take him. He could only possibly play in a front 2 and we won't play that way. Even if we did you'd have to go with Kane and Vardy. On top of that, he's in shite form anyway.

My squad now

Hart Forster Heaton

Clyne Stones Smalling Bertrand Cahill Rose

Dier Wilshere Milner Drinkwater Sterling Walcott Alli Barkley Lallanna Townsend

Kane Vardy Sturridge Rashford

I don't have an issue with him going. He's captain afterall and the squad is light on experience.

However, I don't want him shoehorned into positions where he's patently not very good. It's obvious that he's on a decline and at the moment he's not showing himself able to adapt.

For me he plays as a central striker or not at all.
