Euro 2016 Qualifiers - The Road to France

We have to be careful with these youngsters, and that is exactly what they were.

Resting Sterling was a good shout, taking Welbeck off at half time should have been an easy decision he was having an awful game.

Henderson is a strange one, and I agree with Mark it has to be down to experience, and also confidence.

it's a fine line to tread, how does Roy do it, he has obviously set his mind on the diamond, and possibly would work against teams playing football against us, I am not sure it works against a packed 11 men defence (or 10) you need width, but do you change the play to 4-4-2 with width, just because of who your playing, or do you just stick with it and if you scrape the odd goal win and qualify is that enough.

We have the players for the diamond, Sterling, Llalana, Rooney, Ox, Wilshire all excellent players through the middle with space to attack, I can certainly see why Roy is sticking with it, the players need to get used to it, work out there jobs in it.

3 wins out of 3, I would have accepted that after the dismal world cup results, and IMHO the world cup performances were far better than the results.

Looking at the other games, unfortunately I don't see the Welsh losing against Cyprus.
Fortunately I don't think the Scots can beat Poland
And hopefully the Germans will hammer the Irish.

And hopefully the Northern Irish will get a superb win against Greece.

It would be fantastic to see England and Northern Ireland as the UK qualifiers to France.

I agree with McNulty. Sterling had only played one half of football in over a week. I do wonder though whether Liverpool had something to do with it.

I guess the modern game will always be a conundrum to people like McNulty and your good self. You're clearly a well read man and like football so I'd point you to modern training techniques, coaching and conditioning and player development in all sports. I fear it is only then that you will change your perception and stop agreeing with ignorant hacks like McNulty.

What if they have? If the actions taken are to protect and look after a promosing taltent, surely that is better than running him into the ground and risking his long term future in the game?

I am sure there are a lot of players who have since retired, wishing they had handled or been handled better instead of "running through a brick wall". I reckon deep down, Bully wished he had said "I aye roight today boss" a few times. He might got a few more years of playing.

Does he ever have one?

I always have a point Del. Your dislike and disapproval of every thing I write says more about you than it does about me.

Personally I think that today's pampered players should show a lot more pride when being selected to play for their country. I am sorry if that earns me more disapproval, but that is my opinion.

I saw Ferdinand's comments on it and thought he was spot on

Sport has moved on; we don't need our players to play 70 games a year on mudheap pitches to prove how manly they are.

They're elite athletes and conditioning is incredibly important. Have a check how many races Usain Bolt runs a year, or how many fights Floyd Mayweather has.

Well, yeah. It says my tolerance to banality is decreasing.

It's not the fifties anymore. We're talking about highly tuned athletes who's bodies are pushed far closer to their limits than yesteryear. You just can't play these guys twice a week, or you damage them. You really need to move with the times.

And as for pampered players showing more pride... What does that even mean? How do you know they're not proud? They pretty much all say it's the highlight of their career. What does pampered mean, in this context? Is it basically old man talk for 'rich'?

Cue scenes of mass celebration in Johnny's household.....:disco:

You've got me all wrong. Banning you would be like kicking a puppy for pissing on the carpet, it doesn't know it's wrong until it gets taught. I'm wondering if the only solution for old dogs is a trip to the vet ...................

R.I.P Frank.....:eek:ldman:

Ready for the big international game of the week and Sky have put bloody Saunders on. It's almost as bad as the ITV Chiles - Hoddle Nightmare Team.

Dean Watch: He (Simon Church) can have a good game without ever touching the ball.

No sound on here (thankfully) but he looks absolutely ridiculous.

'A slightly melted Bruce Springsteen' is the best one I've seen on Twitter :icon_lol:
