England "Fans"

Finally the French press seem to be looking a bit harder at what happened:
lemonde.fr

It's in French but I think it's pretty accurate. Basically it says scuffles with the English was expected and not out of control. It was the Russians that took things to a whole new level.

Good article that, if only the views were more widely spread.

2 England fans jailed for 3 months for their part in the violence leading up to the game

One of them was nicked for throwing a bottle. I reckon three months is ok for throwing A bottle and not actually doing anybody any harm with it.
Depends. If it was a full bottle of Golden Glow he's got off lightly.

Igor Lebedev, a member of the executive committee of the Russian football Union has said "I don't see anything wrong with the fighting, quite the opposite, well done lads, keep it up".

If FIFA don't pull the 2018 World Cup then the Associations should withdraw from FIFA. Would kill 2 birds with one stone then.

According to Max Seddon (journalist specialising in Russia) the Russian nutcases are being deported. Off twitter:

Top Russian football fan (also, coincidentally, an ex-neo-Nazi) says French police are deporting them en masse. https://t.co/oq8rgKGUgw

Ah what a wonderful quote... "it might be a minority but every championship it seems the majority of England fans want to smash the place up"

Are they really going to follow through through? Wouldn't that mess up the tournament somewhat?

Russia out if theres any more violence in stadiums.

Quite right as well. England fans may not be Angels, but the scenes after the Russia game were disgraceful. While the blame for violent behaviour must always fall on the perpetrator, I think the French authorities could have done a lot more to try to prevent the disorder that occurred both inside and outside the ground.

I guess they would forfeit their games grant 3-0 victories to the other teams in the group.

I very much doubt that the thugs involved in the violence give 2 shits about such a consequence.

I wonder if they'd threaten expulsion if they misbehave again at the next World Cup? That'd go down well.

Sadly I think you're right.

FIFA should not be giving a suspended sentence but actually threatening to take the World cup off them. That would really go down well.

Decent interview with a Moscow reporter on bbc radio just now.
Russian nutters were really just in Marseille cos of the weather and have a go with England/Minorities.
They would never be able to afford to stay and there wont be anymore trouble this week.

About 300 are really highly organised and disciplined and have ranks but thats it.

Will never be much trouble in Russia 2018 cos Putin will ahem...send people round to see too
the main ring leaders and should they be seen at the tournament then trumped up charges
and a 10+ prison sentence would be given to them.

More trouble tonight in Lille & Lens as expected. Russian fans attacking English & Welsh fans across the city.
