Crystal Palace (H) 11/5: Build-Up & Match Thread

Only Liverpool next..... good job their season is done.

What you have to say is (and this goes back to Nuno to a certain extent) is that often an oppositions best tactic is to let us have the ball as much as possible in our own half, as we have little idea how to break teams down and we're so prone to individual errors and our midfield is completely vulnerable to the transition.

Says the guy giving it the big un because you've been a consistent misery about GON?
Ha, like I haven’t (in this very thread today) repeatedly say he’s done well this season. You’ve been very strange these last few months

Define a largely fit squad? 2/3 players out that’s about normal for most sides to deal with at any point and should be manageable by some decent organisation and a tactical rethink none of which have been evident in recent weeks.
Well as i said, for me, Dawson is our best defender, certainly best CB, Sa is clearly our best keeper, and Neto is our most creative player (or best attacker)

If we had just Traore, Doc and Santi Bueno injured for example, i'd agree with the "largely fit" notion. That's the only point i was making.

It ain't an accident that our results this season when we've had >50% possession have been pish.

We are so bad at playing out from the back.

Lack of options and at least three players on the pitch I never want to watch again.

GON could well have got it all wrong I'll admit that. But equally the players might also be making poor decisions playing it out, not coping with the press, and not tracking runners into the box.

Tactically it's a mess again, asking players to do things they aren't capable of. We've been tackled 4 or 5 times facing our own goal 30 yards out which is criminal. All that said there's an effort issue here and I'll calling out Lemina, Cunha and RAN. When your best players cba you've got an issue. The NB Uppper gives you the perfect view of who is trying and who isn't

I've been working so missed the first half. But it sounds great. On the players v tactics discussion, I think it's a bit of both. We are tactically poor defensively and not very disciplined, but I would also say that you'd struggle to find a poorer centre back pair than Kilman and Toti outside of the bottom 3 teams.

Sa is just out today, doesn’t explain the other tripe efforts nor does it stack up with Neto because we amassed about 17 points between November to new year with Neto out.

We are not playing a centre back pair.

These all feel like things that a manager 35 games into his tenure should largely have stamped out. We’ve been seeing all three for weeks now, with no abatement in sight.

No no how can it possibly be his fault that we can’t defend

Relegation form and selling our best players to fund any signings. Good luck with that Season Ticket announcement Jeff.
I was just thinking about this. Jeff/Fosun needed a result & positive performance today just as much as we, the fans, did. The inevitable price increase announcement is going to be brutal.

And just think, the money we’d have received for finishing 10th (which was more than realistic in January) had they signed a striker, will absolutely dwarf what they make by increasing the ticket prices - and they could of done that without pissing off/alienating the entire fanbase.

And they’re supposed to be businessmen 🤣

Cunha still doesn't look fit to me. Hasn't since he came back. RAN looks like he can't be arsed without the ball. Lemina is trying but again is probably just knackered.

Traore is the one I'm disappointed in today. You can see the effort and desire but his ball control and skill at keeping it isn't quite good enough on a too regular basis.
