Coronavirus

We certainly won't follow last year. Each step will be 2-3 weeks apart and probably see restrictions in the pubs tiered so they essentially follow how it was in Tier 2 then Tier 1 then slowly increasing numbers allowed

I am getting more hopeful that our two weeks in Devon in a small isolated cottage with the dog will be OK.

A little selfish I know, but Mrs HW and I both have cancer and we feel that we need a break and some sea air. We don't care if nothing is open - we just want to walk (or just sit) in the fresh air.

It's worth mentioning that hospitals are still posting numbers above first wave levels.

We need those levels down for at least a few weeks (ideally a month or so) to let the NHS recover.
Also got to remember that treatments are way better now (we have drugs that help patients recover, we've stopped thinking "er, Christ, better stick a tube in this guy's throat ASAP" when that's actually quite dangerous) being as we understand the virus better. Obviously never great if you're admitted to hospital and even worse when it's ICU but fewer people are dying upon admission.

When are your booked in for?

We have 2 trips with the Dogs for this year. Scotland end of May. Not sure if that one happens and Dorset in July, think this one will be ok.

My main target for this year is to be able to go to Devon, pick my folks up and spend a week or so with them staying at mine.

Probably rearranging my USA trip for a 3rd time though.

I'm all for a slowly, slowly approach. Starting with schools in a gradual fashion.
hospitals are already planning for the next wave/surge of cases when society reopens.

We are staying near Salcombe in South Devon for a week (an area we do not know very well) and then moving up to Braunton near Staunton Sands for the second week (an area we know very well!).

We really like our cottage holidays with the dog. Cornwall, Devon, The Lakes etc. We are hoping to go to Scotland next year. Some of the beaches just look magnificent.

Terrible trivia - Robbie Williams Angels video and the invasion beach scene of Edge of Tomorrow were filmed at Saunton Sands.

The beaches right at the top are stunning.

So target of offering everyone in top 4 groups a vaccine achieved.
Over 15m people have now had their first vaccine at least.

Tremendous effort and the push continues for groups 5-9 before the end of April. Supply permitting, they will meet that target and then some. Come April I think under 50's in some areas will getting called in.

Yep my mum who's 67 got hers last week after being phoned the day before.

I think, the biggest cohort who need hospital treatment in terms of numbers are something like 50-65. If we get that group not needing hospital we've cracked it.

I'd be fairly confident we'll be back in Molineux next season, maybe even a few back end of this.

Same for my Dad, he’s 68 and got his yesterday after a call the day before.

Oh and I'm still waiting for clearance to start helping out. Such a slow process.
Been over a week since my DBS check was done and that is fine. Have been allocated an NHS email address today so hopefully sorted this week.

Friend of mine is helping out one of the vaccine sites in Stafford. Started last week and bagged a vaccine after 2 days when they had some leftover.

55 with chronic asthma from nicotine coated lungs expect to get the call any time soon

Yes I agree. I'm alright with these regulations as long as they can assure us that we are safe from the virus. I really don't want to have it. By knowing these regulations make me feel safer as I know thta the people around me who may be travelers have happened to undergo isolation already.

Boris doing the Monday shift this week. Probably delighted he can be positive again and not have to use alas numerous times

Questions from the media will be "can we go on holiday? pubs open, when? is it safe to open schools? and can we go on holiday?
