Coronavirus

"Blue Islands has said it is operating a flight to Jersey from Exeter on Thursday afternoon as a gesture of goodwill." I guess it will be returning too, if that helps?
Blue Islands are flying between Jersey and Guernsey, so I've managed to re-schedule. The problem was that before today BI was using Flybe's platform for online bookings. As of today they have relaunched their own knline booking system.

BI are also flying out of Jersey to Bristol, London, Brum and Soton.

Aurigny are flying from Jersey to Exeter and Jersey to Birmingham now.

Oh i agree but you cant be cancelling gigs and football matches etc but leave the most confined, populated place in the country open.....makes no sense.
To be fair the underground is a lot more useful than a gig or sporting event, close that and the ramifications are much greater than a few miffed music/sports fans.

We managed okay when large chunks of it were closed for a month in July 2005.

The effect of that would be a drop in the ocean compared to closing the entire network though. You close the odd station or section of line and there are plenty of workarounds using alternate lines but if you shut the whole thing down and push everyone onto buses it's going to be a nightmare.

The entire district circle and Hammersmith and City lines were out then. Bar the central they are pretty much the most important lines. Loads and loads of people simply walked. I did from Euston to Paddington every day. Shame I had a ruptured Achilles at the time. Worst pain I have ever known!

Italy quarantining 16 million yes million peoplein the north of the country, gyms, ski resorts, museums, schools all closed, restaurants still open, but people must sit 1 metre(3 feet for those of you using real measurements) apart, looking into banning all sports fixtures, but hey it's only flu aye it

It literally is only flu...

But flu is bad for you and most high risk members of the population get a vaccine, to avoid possible death. There is no vaccine for this hence people are dying. Whether it was Coronavirus that actually killed them after testing positive for it or the fact they were old and ill anyway and possibly near death anyway is practically impossible to ascertain, so skews the numbers.

There were a few odd clumps of season ticket holders missing at yesterday’s game - strange, especially for a 3pm k.o. Can only guess it was due to Corona virus.

Literally, it isn’t flu.

China built hospitals in a matter of days to help them deal with this. It isn't just flu

Unless countries get a handle on this healthcare services will simply get overwhelmed. I think I read 10% of cases require hospital treatment. If that's 10% of a few million we have a very real problem, plus the knock on impact on any other healthcare requirements.

Italy have quarantined 16 million people in an effort to contain this virus.

This is a very real and significant problem. If you think I'm exaggerating have a look at the coronavirus subreddit.

I also think the US is already fucked, they just aren't testing people, I think 2000 out of 327 million have actually been tested. I think in a week or two they'll see a significant spike in numbers

Doesn't it worry you when you have to touch the ATM machine though after everyone else ?

People look after themselves, any thought of the wider community goes out the window.

I'm a cashless man these days my friend.

Last time I physically drew any money out was about four months ago and that's because I didn't know that the cafe near me only accepts card payments over £5. So now if I go there (not very often) I order enough to go over that mark.

Up to 70% of the population here expected to contract C19, (1.9 million).

If 70% of the UK got it, that's 49 million people. At a 3% death rate that's 1.5 million dead.

All those people saying its no biggie are talking nonsense.
