London has to be locked down now?

Bit late I think. My sister lives in rural Devon. House next door is Air Bnb and currently occupied by guests on a weekend break fron London. Everyone else in their little street is over 65 and nearly all have health problems.

Owner of house is determined to stay in business through pandemic, next weeks guests also from London.

mrs jelly has just received a text message. It is from "schoolapp". It reads "your school has given permission for you to access news and updates via the app. Please click on the link..."

Now, given there are zero children in this household, methinks some ne'er do wells are already up to no good!

Loads of you have kids of school age, so beware!

I think that the numbers in the vulnerable category are huge and that stops the isolation / herd immunity theory from working.

5.4 million asthmatics in the UK.

Mammoth task. UK workforce approaching 30M and you are probably taking 15M out of the equation. If only for 6 weeks while the country slows down it would be worth it.

Over the last week I've doing shopping for half a dozen 'olds' after my Mom pimped me out to her mates. Two of the cheeky fuckers have asked if I can mow their lawns (not a euphemism).

I dont see how they can unless they impose martial law and get the army to slap people that are out, you cannot arrest everybody and you know full well the cities and towns wont be packed this weekend but they'll be busy, people are nobs.

All pubs, cafes, restaurants etc. being told to close ASAP tonight and not to open again.

Then will need to find a way of compensating them then as a lot won't reoppen after otherwise (not including Weatherspoons in this as he has enough money)

In Jersey - COVID19 update: Social distancing is now advised for everyone. Limit unnecessary contact with people outside your household unless essential. Gov.je/coronavirus

In Guernsey - only pubs serving food to open from 6:30pm today. All persons must sit at tables and not the bar.

Why can’t journalists ask shorter questions? Grandstanding wankers.

Govt paying 80% of wages of employed staff laid off. Good news for those in the service industry but blurred lines if you are one of the hundreds of thousands employed by agencies and on zero-hour contracts. Bit sketchy for the SE.

How is the restaurant thing going to work? Just completely shut down?

Only I've seen quite a few independent places started offering takeaway/collection services or even local delivery in some cases as an alternative to sit in trade. Wonder if they'll allow that to continue or if they have to stop that too.

They're allowed to continue delivery / takeaway

Avoid all contact... All pubs and restaurants close... Avoid the elderly

Boris, will you be visiting your parents this mother's day?

"Well, mumble mumble, something about the directives being aimed at the vulnerable, yes I hope to see her"

Tosser

I started self isolation Wednesday after Mrs Lincs developed a cough and fever overnight on Tuesday.

She works for the Youth Hostel Association who have been fantastic, they delivered computer equipment (from Matlock around 20 miles away) and have called her a couple of times per day for welfare checks and have said WFH until further notice no pressure on returning to the government's recommendations.

The overlords for whom I work for encouraged me not to self isolate when I called "it's only advice from the government not an order" I get retailers are getting slammed right now but you've got an equal duty of care for colleagues and customers.
