I think I'm just going to have accept defeat and go along with the way things are going. It's a weird day when you are on the same page as Jacob Rees-Mogg, it probably means I should take a step back! Going to stop looking on this thread for a bit I think and just try not to worry about it all - they say don't worry about things you can't control, so I'll try that.
From a personal perspective, the vaccine passport issue won't make any difference to me, I've got the app on my phone - my opposition was always on civil liberties grounds for other people. The fact a negative test is accepted is a middle ground I suppose. If I had to make a hard choice between vaccine passports and more lockdowns, I'd choose vaccine passports every time. The other stuff like working from home, table service in pubs etc, doesn't really bother me.
I wear a mask, again I don't personally believe that they really achieve anything, but I appreciate I'm in a minority and I follow the rules as it's less hassle that way. I'm as careful as I can be when there are peaks like there are now, but I'm still going to see my family this Christmas, that's a decision we've all made together after a careful consideration of the risks.
It's not like posting on here really makes a difference to anything anyway, sometimes it's just therapeutic to put opinions across and get the alternative view point. I just really hope that we don't all look back in 20 or so years when Covid is a distant memory and see a clear dividing line between the freedoms we enjoyed before and after. It's the world the young children of today are going to inherit from us that I worry about.
I hope it's clear from my posts the motivations for arguing things comes from a place of love for my fellow human beings and not a callous desire to let it rip and get on with it. Peace and love to everyone and I hope you all have a great Christmas after what's been a really challenging couple of years.
