Coronavirus

I think I'm just going to have accept defeat and go along with the way things are going. It's a weird day when you are on the same page as Jacob Rees-Mogg, it probably means I should take a step back! Going to stop looking on this thread for a bit I think and just try not to worry about it all - they say don't worry about things you can't control, so I'll try that.

From a personal perspective, the vaccine passport issue won't make any difference to me, I've got the app on my phone - my opposition was always on civil liberties grounds for other people. The fact a negative test is accepted is a middle ground I suppose. If I had to make a hard choice between vaccine passports and more lockdowns, I'd choose vaccine passports every time. The other stuff like working from home, table service in pubs etc, doesn't really bother me.

I wear a mask, again I don't personally believe that they really achieve anything, but I appreciate I'm in a minority and I follow the rules as it's less hassle that way. I'm as careful as I can be when there are peaks like there are now, but I'm still going to see my family this Christmas, that's a decision we've all made together after a careful consideration of the risks.

It's not like posting on here really makes a difference to anything anyway, sometimes it's just therapeutic to put opinions across and get the alternative view point. I just really hope that we don't all look back in 20 or so years when Covid is a distant memory and see a clear dividing line between the freedoms we enjoyed before and after. It's the world the young children of today are going to inherit from us that I worry about.

I hope it's clear from my posts the motivations for arguing things comes from a place of love for my fellow human beings and not a callous desire to let it rip and get on with it. Peace and love to everyone and I hope you all have a great Christmas after what's been a really challenging couple of years. ✌️

So it must be affecting women a lot worse then men then 😉
Joking ain't ya? I had to make dinner and everything!
Seriously, feeling unwell is no fun at all. I am very relieved I was lucky to not experience side effects bar a sore arm. I am even more pleased to report mrs jelly is feeling much much better today!

It was more of a jibe at Dire Wolf

I fail to see how calling someone a woman is an insult/jibe 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, my Pfizer booster side effects lasted 3 days all in but they were pretty mild after the initial 24 hour aches.

Me and my missus both just got pinged by our covid apps. Mine said if no symptoms and I'm fully vaxxed, no need to isolate but my missuses says she has to isolate... don't understand that

Other than a mistake the only way I think that can work is 2 separate cases hers is Omicron, yours isn't...I think

Dunno, the only place we can have picked it up, we were sat next to each other all the time and came into contact with the same people for the same amount of time

Apparently it all depends on what kind of immune response the vaccine triggers. Some people it kicks in hard, others it doesn't. So myself and Mrs Jelly clearly have the immune system equivalent of the SA fucking S and you and anyone else with no real side effects have the the local troop of Brownies for an immune system...

Scientific Note: my understanding of the immune system could be written on the back of a postage stamp with enough space left over to draw illustrations, so I'd take my theory under advisement.

can't help wondering if the WHO advising that "you can't boost your way out of covid" is aimed at anyone in particular?
Also, annoyed at the report out today suggesting booster effectiveness wanes after 10 weeks.

Israel probably as they've gone completely mental with it.

Effectiveness against catching it wanes, but not against severe disease.

Why annoyed? What a bizarre choice of wording. Would you rather they only gave you good news?

Which wipes out any benefit of proving you've had the vaccine for events. Should be asking everyone to test.
Anyone who thinks that's a good idea will be doing it anyway. Anyone who doesn't will just evade it, as discussed earlier. I know I'm being fatalistic, but I really don't think it matters (or will matter) what regs are in place (or not). This is just going to play out with a short (and hopefully not devastating, but who knows? 🤷‍♂️) period of getting worse, very quickly followed by things getting a lot better.

Sky News understands... that Boris is not set to impose any further restrictions today following a review of data with Chris Whitty

Both me and Mrs Lincs tested positive this morning. She called me at work with the good news and an LFT gave me my initial positive. Awaiting PCR confirmation. Self isolation for 11 days.

We've both been flu'd up over Christmas, used LFT's because of cold like symptoms associated with Omicron but those came back negative so not sure if the virus was incubating or we've picked it up elsewhere in the interim.

Generally we both just feel under the weather with some chest tightness. Hopefully this is as bad as it gets.
