Coronavirus

I'm starting to get very worried now. I don't think there's going to be support for people like me, I have no work and I've got nothing to back me up, there'll be no job market out there when my money runs out. They would have announced it by now.

I think I might have had it without even getting the virus.

Depends if people stay buying bog roll. If they switch to food we might be somewhat svelte.

You'll be getting fed here if there are no other food options. I can always stretch the food to one more.

Announcement here at 9pm live on tv.
Sounds like we are going into complete lockdown

I think something will be coming very shortly. You're too big a section of the population to ignore.

Good on you Pad.

That's a kick in the balls, we've got ourselves an Easter break planned and bobbing around a few EH sites was our solution to see it through and make a fist of it in spite of all the issues. Thought they'd be a safe option for something to pass the time considering they're mostly open air ruins and generally run with minimal staffing.
Free sites will be open apparently (so ones where there are no staff).

Disappointed with the new Speaker bollocking Sunak for announcing it to the public before MPs. That's shite. We need to know just as much as they do.

Bring back Bercow.

Absolutely, never mind pointless protocol, the goal posts are moving hourly never mind daily, we need to be kept informed

Trying to convince my 69 year old mum she shouldn't go to her part time job where job public are wandering in to the shop every 5 minutes. Shes not having it though - I don't know what else to say

Nah. Just quoted Churchill and thanked the healthcare staff.

Although it is worrying that he said this will be rolling over into the summer months. That's not good.

A strict age limit isn't the defining factor as a lot of other issues come into play - in theory I fall into the 'vulnurable' category next Wednesday though I won't be any more than I was the day before, I don't have any underlying medical issues or take medication so am not going to completely restrict myself (though will take precautions).

Don't know your mum, but if she is 69 & fit then she should be able to make her own decisions on how she should behave in these circumstances.

Runny nose and sore throat here, which is all the better because something like 70% of my clients are retirees (I.E., the most likely to die from Covid-19).

I may have infected my entire county, and I can't even get tested to find out.

Runny nose says you probably gave them a cold Alan. At least that seems to be the current advice.

It's the sore throat that worries me. No fever as yet but mostly just frustrated I couldn't even get tested if I was seriously concerned.

I think runny nose is a symptom

Fever seems to be the most consistent indicator but when 50-75% of infected people aren't showing any symptoms who the fuck knows.

If China are managing coronavirus they need to start mass producing all the shit we need to deal with it, ventilators, test kits, PPE etc

Aye almost bit of an anti-climax for want of a better phrase, the shit is about to hit the fan, will carry onto the summer and we will be broke when it's over. Nothing we didnt know already.

My wife is a respiratory specialist who has been an academic (PhD, Pulmanory Rehabilitation) for a number of years. She has seen some central government NHS planning information and expects to be called back to the “frontline”.

This does have the feel of a war effort. Worrying times.

Sounded like a rehash of what Boris said a few days ago.
Suppose he thought he'd better say something.
The bit about families/grand children was nicely done, although reading between the lines he's admitting they closed the schools to early and are now trying to militate the effect of that.
Is he back here or did he do it from the U.S.?

Not understanding the Sunak love personally.
Thought he did exceptionally well at re-framing the questions into answers he wanted to give, rather than answering the actual question. I do understand the concerns that the proposals announced risk saddling some business' with additional debt, and it feels like kicking the can down the road somewhat.

Also I feel that he didn't answer the questions about wider issues.

However, Boris came out of it badly I thought. He repeatedly threw one of the others in to give himself time to think, and came across as very much a bumbling ill prepared idiot. All he had was meaningless soundbites with no substance.

It's the david cameron version of playing politics.

I also got tired very quickly of the we will do whatever it takes mantra that was being repeated very much like take back control was.

Time will tell.
