Coronavirus

I mean, you still have a gun, even if you only have one bullet. Shoot Saunders and pistol whip Fat Al to death. Simple, and satisfying.

Tomorrow we are set to get the more detailed plan. So presume that will list all the places that will be vaccination centres for this roll out.

Also see over 3m doses are currently delayed as the independant batch testing is struggling to keep up
testing and a lack of vials for the packing is going to be a big issue

One to keep an eye on

"Tory MP Nadhim Zahawi found himself in the fortunate position of registering a new company, Zahawi Warren Ltd, before immediately changing its name to Warren Medical Ltd. Here's the fortunate bit; He then became the govts Vaccine Minister"

Odds this company has been awarded a contract relating to the vaccine rollout?

On this day in history, 6/01/2020
The Chinese city of Wuhan reports outbreaks of a as yet unknown virus, unclear where it originated, how it's transmitted, but doesn't think it is highly contagious.

A record 62k cases today and sadly over a thousand deaths. Unfortunately I think we'll be seeing these levels of deaths for the next 2-3 weeks.

Mass vaccination centres will include Robertson House in Stevenage; the ExCel Centre in London; the Centre for Life in Newcastle, Etihad Tennis Centre in Manchester, Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey; Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol and Millennium Point in Birmingham.

Also a record in San Antonio - over two thousand cases yesterday (pop. just under 2 million).

Five deaths. I still don't understand how it can be so much more deadly in one country than another.

If they want to protect the older element first (not sure that's the best way once you have the over 80's and vulnerable element done - think that NHS/care staff & emergency service ought to come in next as if I get ill for any reason then want as many of those available as possible) then they will need more local centres.

Looks like mine will be 14 miles away which for me is fine as I still drive, but in rural area with limited public transport then there will be a fair number who may struggle to get there.

Those representing pharmacies have offered their help & got no response - many are easier to get to & take part in the flu jabs each year so are perfectly capable of doing this.

Can't see anything going wrong at all with mass vaccination centres. Not like they'd be superspreader venues is it.

The bellendery of this government and the crooked Zahawi seems to know no bounds.

It's almost like the pharmacies who do this year in year out have just been blatantly ignored.

Utter wankers.

I think the issue on pharmacies being used right now is the 15 mins you have to wait after having it and the majority of places don't have sufficient room for that. Meaning it would be a very slow process. Looks like they will be used when things are running at full speed everywhere so more than likely when the lower risk groups are being called in.

Pharmacy I use (attached to the surgery) has room & no they won't be able to do massive numbers, but if they can take a 100 a day of those who can't make the journey to a more remote centre then this has to help.

Would presume the surgery would be used rather than the pharmacy though.

Surgery is closed due to some building problems & they have moved everything to the other one at the other end of town, but the pharmacy is still open

"NEW: Boris Johnson will host a press conference at 5pm today with the Health Secretary and Brigadier Phil Prosser. Expect to hear more about Army's roll in vaccine rollout"

Its promising to see the Army will be involved in the vaccination roll out though. Certainly have more faith in them than a newly founded medical logistics company
