By the way, seems that this Excel cock up...they were hit by a column limit of 66,000. Which means they were using Excel 2003 (!), not supported by Microsoft since 2014.

Obviously the error is by whichever lunatic decided to format the sheet that way, but still. Crazy that they operate in this manner. Wouldn't surprise me if the computers were still running XP either.

You can save in previous formats in Excel, so they aren't necessarily using old software. Just saving in an old format. Maybe to support CSV import?

Don’t knock it... the computers that network rail use have just been “upgraded” from Windows98 to XP! Weiss terminals that would work quicker if they were powered by geriatric mice on a wheel :icon_lol:

CSVs don't have a row limit though do they? I used to use them get around the excel magic numbers.

Dunno. Just throwing an idea off the top of my head as to why they would be using such an old file format!

Not defending any of this, by the way. Just so we're clear!

Rows wouldn't have been a problem anyway, you can have over 1,000,000 rows. We don't have 1,000,000 cases yet, not even close (at least declared ones anyway).

Would still be a bollocks way of holding the data but literally all you need is for some clown to realise that you're best off working downwards rather than left to right.

14542 cases today with an extra 762 in hospital compared to a week ago.

Over 1k cases at Manchester Uni.

They just don't look after themselves up there these days.

pure assumption, but it wouldn't surprise me to see much university teaching moved 100% online within the next 6 weeks.

Only 9 areas of the UK have less than 20 infections per 100,000 (the current threshold for a country to have quarantine restrictions imposed on it). The current figure for England is 55 (for the week up to 3rd October), my District is 66...

Our rise is completely driven by the students

If you look at the interactive map with the cases, in and around the student area there are over 700 new cases in the traditional student areas and also where the university is based.

In my suburb and the surrounding areas there are less than 40
