Coronavirus

Dom may well have tested his eyes in Barnard Castle but he couldn't avoid the car crash interview and his sock puppet's bumbling shambles of an update

Twitter has been brilliant today.

Pretty clear the written press hate Cummings and you can visibly see the confidence in Johnson melt away.

The BBC and Peston have been appalling by comparison.

Laura asked a nothing. As did Peston. Beth Rigby waded in with some serious weaponry.

I can't see those images very well....just off for a 30 mile drive to see if that helps

Dom/Number 10 briefed the press confirming he'd be isolating in london:
https://twitter.com/Sandbach/status/1264861789231210496

"He remains in contact with key staff to continue advising on dealing with the virus"

A couple of things on this...

1; He had a chat with Boris but both were so ill they can't remember what was actually said so what important decisions did he make while suffering from C-19?
2; His wife did her "diary" in the Spectator stating that he was SO ill that " Mr Cummings, 48, spent 10 days bedridden with the disease after coming home to nurse her through a milder case. Writing in the Spectator she spoke of how her 'extremely kind' husband struggled to breathe while at home in London with her and their four-year-old son Alex."

Gove just actually said on tv that he occasionally drives his car to check his eyesight.

Staggering stuff.

We have officially passed through the material the Thick of It used to take the piss!

That's the sad thing. The Thick of It and the West Wing have become entirely redundant as the real-life stuff out-does anything the writers would have dismissed as too silly.

Gove is making things worse!

So Cummings was fine to go back to 10 Downing Street after he’d been home to see his ill wife because she probably didn’t have covid. But he was also right to jump in the Land Rover and drive to Durham because she probably did have it.

Which is it?

Another thing - driving a car while visually impaired is a criminal offence. You shouldn't start the motor. The correct test is to sit in the car and read a number plate from 20 metres distance. Or stand on your street and read a number plate on a neighbours car from that distance without even getting in the car.
