I don't quite get the controversy over it, do the people who are offended think he actually believes it's a positive gpsies were killed in the Holocaust?

I thought the joke was making a point about how gypsies are still regarded by society as a lower class of human by alot of society.

That would work with some comedians, he doesn't have that audience. He's not Stewart Lee

Well I'm seeing him in a few months. Tickets bought in 2018, originally due to be 2020, but rescheduled, so I hope he doesn't get "cancelled"...

Enjoy, as had been mentioned he deliberately pushes the jokes and taste across boundaries to make you feel uncomfortable.

It's clever and the audience, in my experience, know this.

The David Baddiel tweet perfectly sums up *that* joke and is a little out of context for the rest of his show which is far better than that.

I also have in my mind that Carr comes from a hugely privileged upbringing and doesn't mind a bit of tax evasion.

People like Stuart Lee but I find his sneering delivery very difficult to get on with even if the material is funny.

To be honest only watched it out of some sort of morbid curiosity after the furore surrounding ‘that’ joke, but the main conversation in our house afterwards was precisely around the point you’ve made.

I don't really know how to articulate my thoughts here other than to say, I think "offensive" jokes are fine as long as the punch line isn't an innocent person. Pretty much what David baddiel said.

At the other end of the spectrum got tickets for Peter Kay’s Dance for Life at Ally Pally in April. Sounds like it’s going to be a couple of thousand pissed-up people dancing and singing along to all the cheesy classics like some sort of manic school disco. Wasn’t sure about it but everyone that’s been seems to say it’s a stonking night out. Just wondered if any of you guys have been?

I think the 'punchline' is the bit where he explains the joke and highlights the atrocities the Nazis committed.

depends where he is to be fair.
also, unsure he is wealthy enough to employ a driver to be on standby all the time. Perhaps in a major tour, but he'd be in the town/city most likely. This is a self arranged warm up/rehearsal show for the tour. The audience is only 100 people.
