Coffee

Getting a Kalita Wave and temp controlled kettle today. Hopefully the difference is noticeable.

I'm guessing that's at home. What's your preference at work? (Assuming you haven't changed jobs lately...)

Can't stand the drip machine we have. Makes the coffee taste sour, really poor stuff. Our espresso machines are quality, though, and the mechanic who comes to work on them every other week is incredible.

If I have the time I always prefer pour overs. French press turned out to be much too heavy and oily for my taste.

I use instant at work, anything strong like Gav's Alta Rica, at home I've got a coffee machine, has to be grade 5 at least..

I was told to stop drinking it years ago or go de-caff as it makes me piss and piss and piss.

Actually, people who drink caffeinated coffee tend to live longer lives and have a much lower chance of contracting gastrointestinal cancers.

Was that research sponsored by the govt of Columbia?

When I was a barista I preferred espressos, I used to drink double macchiatos all day long.

Now that I don't work in that industry anymore, I don't bother too much with coffee, but when I do, it's usually filter coffee. Ethiopian is my fave.

Have you tried the 'fresh' coffee out of those Douwe Egberts machines? Utterly rancid.

Never used them mate, never go in the restaurant either, might have some news on Monday, keep your eye on the things you're happy about thread.

I'd wondered if you'd put in for it mate. Hope you get picked, great timing eh?

Jamaican coffee is on another level. Expensive as fuck, though.

I drink Nescafe at a push, but i have one of those really old fashioned perculators, with the glass bit at the top where the water bubbles up and then drops down through the coffee. The wonderful thing is that unlike most of those pisspot filter machines it serves the coffee piping hot, and it's brill with a good splash of evaporated milk and a bit of sugar.

Mokate Marzipan Flavoured Cappuccino. :licklips:

If we're actually talking about what the best coffee is, as opposed to what we drink most regularly, then IMO nothing beats Vietnamese Iced Coffee (and I normally hate cold coffee!): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnamese_iced_coffee

Trust me, don't judge without trying...(few places to try at however!)

I've always wanted to try a peppermint mocha with soy as it sounds nice. But I never go in coffee places as I think they're a rip off.

I'm a big fan of mint.
