I think it was more the number of blind alleys he ran down and failed to deliver the final ball, or smashed it against the defenders leg who was a yard away Freddy Eastwood style rather than the quality of the ball when he actually got it in. Charlton at home being the game which particularly sticks in mind and where the criticism ramped up from. Since then he has provided 4/5 assists and passed / crossed the ball more quickly.

Ironically I think it's the defensive side of his game which has lead to him being out of the team currently as KJ is looking for someone who can be more solid on the right like Henry, Edwards and Price given we have Sako, Dicko and Afobe on the pitch. The team seemed very pissed off by his failure to track Olsen's run for Norwich's second goal.

It was also his poor technique striking the football, following the Matt Jarvis way of either scuffing it at the first defender, kicking it straight out or way over the top. This hasn't, and probably won't really improve, but if he beats his man he can pick out a pass or just slide one into a dangerous area, which he has done effectively. Therefore he doesn't have to rely on good delivery like someone like James Henry has to as he doesn't have the attributes to work more than a yard.

VLP looks like he kind of knows what he wants to do in his brain, but his feet aren't quite capable of doing it.

Morning guys from a sunny Malta (at last) - if anyone finds a stream please message me.
Hopefully a good 90 minute performance and 3 welcome points today.

hey Mick, what's with you sending all your shit weather over to us Greeks? we've had the wettest winter i can remember in 20 years and it's still bloody raining!

I think with Vlp he gets into more dangerous areas more often than Henry so he probably misplaces more final balls than him but has more attempts at it due to his pace/skill

The interesting point for me is will Kenny Jackett look to play narrow in midfield within the Cardiff wide players trying to overload the midfield. If he does then the selection is either Price or Henry because both see the through ball more often than RVLP.

Hey Pav - sorry mate, but w've also had (having) the longest winter for over 20 years too - hopefully our Spring is just about to start so i can go swimming again. Hoping to do a short trip to Greek Isles this year - depending where Ryanair fly to though.

important game, hope we can continue our good form

Rubbish. This 'van La Parra has shit technique' drivel is just as absurd as it was the first time you said it.

Put it this way, At times when he needs to be steady to execute a skill he loses his composure and rushes things which creates the impression of poor technique.:ursofunny:

Rubbish in your opinion maybe. The evidence I have seen supports my view. The fact he regularly mis hits shots, the two corners he had to take he hit both of them straight out and a good percentage of his crosses are woeful. Yes he has put some good ones in but more often than not they are poor. His lack of goals supports my view.

I don't think he is a bad player, he has his limitations but recently and throughout the season he has been an asset with his running and trickery. He also is pretty useful at spotting a pass.

Everyone has their favourites and he is clearly one of yours, however he really isn't this superstar you think he is. Otherwise he would be playing week in week out.

You're are not going to agree with me and that's fine, but those are the reasons that form my view. I can't see him being asked to take a free kick or corner any time soon due to him lacking ability striking a football.

I've seen a lot of baffling things in my time but the Rajiv myth is well up there as the most dumbfounding.

I wouldn't worry about it. Football fans exaggerate alllllllllll the time (see?)

Someone with less-than-stellar technique is suddenly a shocking footballer who can't kick a ball. A guy with just an average footballing brain means the next-door neighbour's poodle could read a game or pick a pass better, etc, etc.

I'm not worried, per se, but it grates when people slag players who don't deserve it.

With respect, what myth? His final ball is downright appalling the vast majority of the time. His game management is non-existent. He doesn't use his best attribute, pace, anywhere near enough. I don't rate him whatsoever based on every game I have watched him in this season, which is most of the ones he has played.

That's my opinion - you disagree - that is fine, but it is hardly baffling. I find it baffling that you can't comprehend someone has a different view to you
