Brighton 3-3 Wolves: Verdict Thread

On current form OO looks a better starter than JM and he creates space for Neves. Our only chance 2nd half came from him and too him.
We are not shit but we are sure as hell not very good at the moment and confidence is low. Only shrug United and WBA have taken fewer points since the end of November. Not good.

Really poor performance. 3-1 at half time flattered us, and that 2nd half was as bad as it gets. We look weak both physically and mentally, and there are a lot of players who are in either in poor form, simply not good enough or too young and shouldn't be playing right now. And Nuno, in my humble opinion, is getting too many things wrong. Whether it is the line up, the subs, the tactics or the mentality he has made more mistakes so far this season than in the previous 2 seasons combined. He seems like he doesn't know what to do to get us out of this and I fear that if things continue in this way his position is really going to have to come into question.

I know I'll get pelters for saying this, but I firmly believe that without a sharp upturn in performances and results we might be seeing the last throes of the Nuno era.

I know you’re just a troll, but do you seriously think we’re going to loan out someone who cost 3497863611 rupees?
He's clearly a troll but a loan is there best thing for Fabio, he's barely ready for the Championship.

He needs games at a level he'll score at.

Cutrone would be a far better option than Silva and he isn't good enough and when you're striker isn't at the level you send out on loan.

Hindsight is wonderful but only recruiting 2 senior players is starting to make us look threadbare. Players like Silva, RAN & Vitinha to a job on regular basis is going to be unrealistic.
With the shape of the squad at the moment mid table to bottom half is about fair.
We do need to guard about being complacent about being dragged into a dog fight, it’s unlikely but also arrogant and negligent to assume we wouldn’t.

The whole problem goes beyond individual players, there is something inherently wrong, whether it be confidence, lack of faith in the system or squad changes, people aren't comfortable we are struggling to compete with mediocre opponents, people who are some of the most skillful at the club in decades are making unnecessary brain farts, teams are playing through or over us, throw ins are becoming an embarrassment as are a lot of set pieces, the cohesions not there, neither is the partnerships, were playing triangles in 3m squares with four opposition players round them, it needs some boring wins, some cohesion, we need to switch it off and on again.

Can he come back today? Absolutely would be a way better option. I’d actually like him back plus another signing.

AKA - my smuggy McSmugg post trying to take the piss out of someone for having a different opinion backfired and now I look like a bit of a tit.
Yeah, because this post isn't smug at all.

Like I say, congratulations. You must be so happy.

Was it really a 3-1 first half maybe not no but we had bits of quality that put Brighton under real pressure and deservedly led despite dropping too deep for the spell just after we equalised. Also thought Silva was doing fine at this point.

Moutinho makes a shocking decision 9 seconds into the second half and it completely killed us apart from Adama who had Burn on toast whenever we got it to him. We never got control of the game back and Nuno then compounded this by dropping us even deeper rather than trying to control the game by winning the midfield and using his subs effectively. Silva started to struggle immensely so Theo should have been sent on and Otasowie would have been a better option to go 3 in midfield rather than Kilman and 3 at the back. Thought Otasowie showed what he could give us in a midfield position against Chelsea but we've not used him there since which is baffling although he should have scored right at the end.

We desperately need a striker among other players imo but we also need our more experienced players to step up and we need our injured players back. That game feels a lot worse than the Utd game as we should have had it wrapped up at 3-1 and we've thrown it away. Still of the opinion that things aren't as bad as lots think they are but Nuno and the players are making more errors this season than they have in the past 3 and that makes a difference.

Nuno is safe as houses in my view. He’s lost his most important player in Raul, and has several other important first teamers also injured at the same time as transitioning and blooding youngsters is tough.

it’s been a tough period, and that’s why he needs some reinforcements this month, but there shouldn’t be any pressure on his job at all.

Yes mate. I’m delighted that we threw a two goal lead away against Brighton. Absolutely over the moon...

If you put yourself out there and take the piss, expect a bit back. Works both ways, like.

Agreed, summat ay right

I don’t think Fabio needs a loan. It’s just too much to expect him at 18 (for the type he is) to lead the line in the way we played.

if we relied less on our striker being able to hold it up, lead counter attacks etc it wouldn’t be so glaringly obvious. He gets into some good position and has good movement, but physically can’t do the job we require for 90 minutes.

If we can get a striker in before the next league game, this run of games will have done him some good in the long run

Hindsight?

Bit ironic, given the highlight of your week is us losing and you getting to say ‘told you wolves and Nuno are shit’.
If you really think Jinky, or anyone else for that matter, is happy about witnessing another poor performance and result then you need to have a word with yourself. We are all fans, and you know what, some aren't blinded by the love of the club to shy away from.criticising and pointing out the faults. No point everyone saying everything is fine when it clearly isn't. Not everyone can be Nero...

Interestingly we are still only 4 points from 6th - the table is horrifically congested...
