Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

I think nearly 40 years later, it's pretty well recognised that both Scargill, the police and the media played into her hands. I was 11/12 at the time, it wasn't debatable who were the goodies and baddies in John Craven land.

She was smart, the stockpiling was clever and cynical in equal measure

One man’s punishment is another man’s restraint. I’m sure we both have views on the 1984 strike and they probably differ depending where you were standing. All I’ll say it isn’t very often that a new TU is formed because a lot of members considered the NUM to be undemocratic. Stupid thing is if Scargill had gone to the members he’d probably have won and the wider TU movement would have offered more support.
The thing was because of how the NUM dispute procedures were at the the time, there wasn't a need to go to a national ballot. The blame isn't on the unions, it's on the engineered strategy of the government.

IIRC the new Union did a deal with the devil that came back to bite them when the devil left office.
Still, if it was today the present buffoon doesn’t give two shits about going back on a promise a couple of days later.

it was an own goal by the NUM as it meant they were seen as y democratic. In a dispute like that you need public opinion on your side and they didn’t have it.

Think the Miners much later rather unfairly copped the vitriol on behalf of the other nationalised industries that were propped up by the taxpayer. "Carry on at your convenience" beautifully sums up the feeling towards Trades Unions prior to the Miners strike. Charles Hawtrey played a blinder. Thatcher was a cow towards the miners in an era where whole communities were decimated. She thought importing coal from Poland was a winner. Globalisation eh ...

A fresh inquiry has opened into Boris Johnson’s relationship with Jennifer Arcuri after the US businesswoman dramatically agreed to assist officials, paving the way for the prime minister to face possible criminal investigation.

Arcuri has formally offered to help the Greater London Authority (GLA) ethics watchdog by allowing it to inspect extracts of her diary entries chronicling her affair with Johnson and agreeing to be questioned for the first time by investigators over the relationship.

Oh no. The idea to build s bridge between Scotland and Northern Ireland has been binned.
No one could have seen that one coming.

How much money was wasted on this pie in the sky idea. Tosser.

He's toast - if he's still Prime Minister by June next year I'd be amazed, only question is how long they'll let him carry on.

He’ll go with under a year left before the next election. Convenient fall guy for them to claim they are all new and going to fix shit.

So that'd be May 2023 or later? No chance he lasts that long imo.

So the tossers who voted not to feed hungry kids, to protect their mate from punishment for corruption and to take £20 a week from the nations neediest people have now voted for the working population and pensioners in the north to protect the assets of those who are property rich in the south.
Wankers.

The Northern Tories in marginal seats are getting twitchy. I’d like to think it was because they have a conscience but I’m sure for the majority it’s just a case of self-preservation.
