Blackpool FC

It's just payback for Ranger going AWOL as it means he can't get a contract elsewhere for another year.

Isn't it assumed that goal of a football club is to win games? And the Oystons seem to be bent on losing them.

I dunno, seems like they should face some sort evaluation from the FA or something.

As long as they meet the rules of the FA from a footballing perspective and the owners have passed the fit and proper persons test, as Paddy says, the FA have no jurisdiction at all over the running of a private company. Where FA rules are breached e.g. pitch invasions, then the club gets punished.

Yes but he's getting paid for it. They've extended the deal because it hurts the club, and anything that hurts the club is the aim of the Oystons.

Ranger is on a pay as you play deal and when he doesn't play, earns minimum wage. It's hurting Ranger first, Blackpool second.

It's probably helping Ranger, don't think anyone else would be rushing to offer him minimum wage, especially without him actually having to do anything.

Neil McDonald appointed new manager. Might as well be Ronald the difference it'll make.

According to a BFC fan on another forum they run a special offer for two successive season tickets for £199 and outside of the people already locked into next season there have been less than 200 season ticket sales for next season. The club have also announced the away fans are to be moved to share behind the goals with the home fans, in truth the lease on the temporary stand is up in November so its assumed that will be coming down at the earliest opportunity.

LOL, glad we have morgan...

Blackpool Supporters Trust (BST) have issued a statement after launching a £16m takeover bid to buy the troubled League One club.

In it, they say: "BST has prepared what it deems a fair and reasonable bid, which in the current climate deserves serious consideration.

"There is a range of serious challenges currently facing the club and a change in ownership is a logical step to help resolve the issues for all parties.

"BST believes that, under the current ownership, the club cannot return to its former glories and that a more likely scenario is ongoing poor performance on the football pitch, leading to knock-on impact on financial performance."

£16m is very generous given the Oystons would almost certainly retain ownership of the ground.

Isn't that pretty much what Oyston wants, though?

Its presumably a loan agreed in principle secured against the club. A mortgage, essentially.

You can't really secure against something that has no assets, tbf. The playing staff as it stands has no value. As I say the Oystons will not let the ground out of their grasp if they did sell up. The value of Blackpool FC itself is negligible and not worth a tenth of £16m.

BST have made a formal £16m bid to take over Blackpool Football Club, which would include the playing staff, the stadium and the training ground - with the Oystons keeping the remaining assets.

They have set a deadline on 21 July for a reply to their offer, but admit it is unlikely to be accepted.

It all rather depends on how long it takes Oyston to type "fuck off" really.
