Beer

Banks's Sunbeam - which is very nice. More Marstons owned than Marstons brewed though perhaps.

You think so? Not sold on that one at all, though TBF I don't think I've had it in a decent place before. Might have one on Saturday though as we'll probably call into the Clarendon as part of our pub crawl. I'm assuming they serve it in there?

Yeah, they have it in the Clarendon. Not as nice as Boondoggle, but my kind of ale. Plus, I don't have a unwavering prejudice for all things Banks's :icon_wink:

Nor me. I use my tastebuds. :icon_wink:

It's not a stop I'd normally filter into a pub crawl but the non-Midlanders amongst us want to go there. It'll look out of place with the Western/Lych Gate/Combermere as rivalling stops.

I think I'm doing a similar crawl on Saturday night. My birthday on Sunday so have been given a green light by the missus. Just texting around now! Might bump into you :D

Believe you me, you won't miss us :icon_lol:

Although we'll be in suits to start with, we're going in fancy dress later on.

Fancy dress in the Clarendon?? Jesus, you'll be more out of place then Leon Clarke in a 4-2-3-1.

I don't think we're going in fancy dress til later - 8-ish or so. When we'll have to go to the shitter places that probably won't serve good beer.

New Holdens beer for February:

Tasting notes:

February – Some Like It Blonde – 4.5%

This triple hopped Blonde Bombshell is brewed using Centennial, Crystal and Willamette hops. Combined with Optic Malt to give floral and fruit notes with an alluring aroma and a seductive lingering bitter finish.

Shame the Western rarely (if ever) serves the guest beers.

I had a couple of bottles of forty niner the other evening. Brewed by the Ringwood brewery, and it is a most pleasant beer.

Ringwood make Boondoggle, which is in my top 5 beers. And also the name of a damn fine Zelig tune.

I have never tried Boondoggle, and I cannot recall seeing it sold anywhere locally. I will keep an eye out for it.

Boondoggle is quite common - nice from the bottle actually. Tescos/Sainsburys usually stock it.

It's Green Duck Brewery night tonight! Not had a beer in nearly 3 weeks now so looking forward to it.

Not through choice and not for charity. So it's worse.

He was ill...you might not have realised though. I don't think it was mentioned :)

Found a cracking new pub in Nottingham. Only 4 ales but lots of good keg beers too.

Above is a Navigation Brewery IPA called Apus which is actually really nice. It is 5.5% though so on the stronger side.

They have Jaipur on according to the menu so will have to have a look out for it

It was only meant as a light-hearted throw away comment. It was not intended to offend or be a dig in any way, shape or form.
