Beer

I thought Worthington Creamflow was alright a few years ago.

I like to try good beers. Beers, not lagers, so my choice over here is limited although I notice beers from my favourite independent brewery are now on sale in Tesco but they're all 33 cl bottles, which is a bit pricey and a bit small.
Anyway, after I'd collected a good few, before I took them to the recycling banks, I stacked them up on a shelf in the utility room and photographed 'em....
I'll stick 'em up here once they're uploaded...

Some loverly ones!

There you go Roy. Fixed for you.

2.7%?!

Alan - if you are sampling European lager beers, and you have got a decent import shop, try and get your hands on some of the Pilsner beers from pretty much anywhere in continental europe. They are much nicer (IMO) than any of the ubiquitous Carlsberg, Heineken, Fosters type lager we get in all the pubs and supermarkets. Germany in particular has hundreds of breweries.

At some point, also you have to try the original Budvar, which is superb stuff and a world away from Budweiser

Czech Budvar is not allowed to be sold in the USA under that brand. I think they have to call it 'Crystal' or some such despite the US vomit beer being a misrepresentation.
As for Czech beers widely available the excellent stuff from Pilsen remains my favourite, ace brewery tour too.

See that Innis & Gunn - Rum finish? they do a whiskey finish too. Superb!

I also lived in Codsall for a few years - The Crown and The Bull being my main hang outs.
Went back there for a few drinks after the cricket last year - had a good evening in the Station bar and a great curry in The Rajput.

Mmmm...now I'm hungry and thirsty!

Being as you lot all love my hood you can come and visit....makes it easier for me to get home.

Some really nice beers there Roy - but beware of Lees Moonraker - it's an acquired taste. Not one I like either!!

Would I be as much of a beer pariah over there as I am over here for finding Guiness to be quite, erm, unenticing?

Not really - I quite like it but I don't have it very often.

I do understand why it's popular though, just not really to my tastes.

Agreed. I s'pose it's the frat mentality over here, but Guiness is worshipped and you may as well be an infidel if you don't like it.

Of course, I also get plenty of stick for enjoying my so-called "lady drinks", but that's a different story.

I simply don't find it anywhere near as tasty as a pint of real ale. I really enjoyed the Guinness brewery tour when I went to Dublin though.
