Aston Villa (H) build up thread

Good point !
Am I imagining that pass ?
Anyway, he sounds like a top bloke.

Bod was a Thelwell signing too so he may have 1 success out of that lot as Lambert clearly isn't sold on Saiss as yet (Lonergan being a failure also).

Wouldn't class Lonergan as a failure as such - He arrived when the club had different owners, manager and budget and we needed a keeper to sit it on the bench and stand in when Ikeme got crocked.

He did knock his first pass wildly out of touch at Blues, it hit Zenga rather than whoever he was aiming for five yards away.

I expect we'll let him leave if there's interest which is a shame, but these things happen - new manager comes in and player doesn't fit the picture. Personally I'd rather hang on until the summer and use him when appropriate to see what he can offer, anything to keep Coady away from central midfield.

Tim II says that none of the Summer signings were down to Thelwell. He doesn't say who they were though so I call bullshit

Yeah, that's complete bullshit. There's even an interview out there somewhere where Thelwell talks about how some of the signings were Mendes, some from him and some from Zenga.

Yeah Tim, we promoted Thelwell this summer and simultaneously stripped him of the authority he already had.

Think about it you fucking idiot.

Don't think Gladon was a Thelwell pick. Wasn't there information that he was a Jon DeWolf recommendation?

I think Gladon asked de Wolf for advice after he found out we were interested in him.

"And Gladon, speaking after signing a three-year contract (Wolves have the option of an extra season) said he sought advice from former Wolves defender John de Wolf before making his decision to leave Heracles.
De Wolf played for Wolves from 1994 to 1996 and is fondly remembered by fans. The former Dutch international defender has also made recent visits to Molineux and speaks highly of the club.
Gladon said: “I’m a striker but John DeWolf was my defensive trainer at my old club, Sparta Rotterdam.
“He’s a very nice guy. He told me some stories about the club and said if you get the chance to go to Wolves then you must take the first aeroplane – don’t think about it.”

Lamberts said some nice things about prince so I think he'll get a chance - he missed the stoke game through a virus and was injured before that is why he's not featured. Hopefully he'll do well when he gets his opportunity.

Gladon is most certainly a Thelwell signing. We employ people to watch videos of games and do reports in Eredivisie, Ligue Un amongst other nations. Slightly concerning as well as know some of the people who are doing the reports.

I'd piss myself if Gladon started against Villa. At least they wouldnt have a clue about him !
