Ex-Wolf Watch

No great surprise...........has tended to be the kiss of death at times though .
Not really, managers from non-CL teams tend to win it because they've overachieved relative to expectations. They just regress to the mean because that's what happens, there isn't a "curse".

You mean they had a month of easy fixtures, then they go back to hard games? That's how it works isn't it? Right?

I mean they had Avram Grant, there's no way Lopetegui is worse than him.

However he's about 20% of the manager that his ego thinks he is. I'm grateful for the job he did for us but the football was pretty shit, and he's far too high maintenance relative to performance. I know it's not so much just a manager spending the money now, but the amount lavished on him over two windows (one at Wolves, one at West Ham) is astronomical for such average returns.

Just watched the Edwards post match video, he's gone and he knows it.

That preamble before the forest match on MOTD2 has made me really sad. All the talk of pride in the team, connection with the fans, fighting for the shirt and daring to dream. Why did it all have to go so wrong ffs 😭

Hey! So they lost today, it was only one game. Any team can beat another in the Premier League on a given day. ;)

So, I’m reading that the mighty Barcelona are looking at Hugo Bueno.

The same Hugo Bueno that can’t even get on a bench that contains preferred fullback, Matt Doherty.

He’ll probably be in their list of around 10 they could bring in on the cheap and sit on the bench just incase Balde gets injured and it helps he’s Spanish.

In all fairness i think it’s for the best that he’s out in loan, he needed game time and not to stagnate behind RAN which he obviously was going to do. It’s a bigger failure that we haven’t got someone else capable of filling in there although Toti does play in that position a lot during games.

To be fair he could get on the bench....but he didn't want to be there and play back up.

As Slink says, it's not so much he is out on loan but what we did to cover his absence.

Vieri, nicknamed Bobo, has never struggled for confidence, either in front of goal or off the pitch. But after playing for Marconi Stallions – a remarkable Sydney team that also nurtured Harry Kewell, Mat Ryan, Mark Schwarzer, Brett Emerton, Paul Okon and ……….

Too much Doherty in the Archive thread today so I’ll refrain from including a former Wolf from Australia from an article in the Gruniad.
