Gone ‘no’, but if the new manager comes in and wins 2-3 quick fire, we’ll probably be back out of the bottom three - so then he only needs to get some consistency out of the squad (with additions in January) over the remainder of the season to stay out of trouble.

Ultimately we need a ‘new manager bounce’.

I don't think we will definitely stay up if we win on Sunday, but I do think we're down if we lose.

Leicester are almost as bad as Southampton from what I've seen. Some of the points they've picked up are the luckiest I can remember in years. They got 4 points from Spurs and West Ham when they deserved 0 and a massive dent to the GD. They got one point against Brighton which they didn't deserve.

You could argue it shows character, and I suppose it does, but they're really bad.

If we avoid defeat on Sunday, I think taking 5 points from them over 21 games is do-able. 8 points is likely too much.

Ipswich have a spirit and togetherness but they were pretty bad as well. I actually think they're better than Leicester though and could click.

Bookies have us 8/11 to go down, Leicester 8/13 and Ipswich 8/15.

I would probably have us as the most favourites of the three, so I do think we will go down, but the odds are pretty fair. It's so close and Sunday is absolutely huge (stating the obvious).

No we're not, even if a new coach gets a decent PPG like Lopetegui did we are asking a lot. We will need to win at Leicester for any chance, and I think we will lose.

I've thought we were down since Newcastle in September. Should have sacked him by Brentford at the latest. Allowed O'Neil to write off all of our 'hard' games, but we are about to come back to those tough fixtures with very little to show from the 'easy' ones. It's such a difficult task, there is some talent up front and in the middle but we are so weak in goal and at the back.

If we can pull some results out of nowhere we have a chance.

We've blown our easier games though due to our horrendous strategy

Voted yes out of hope, but I have no actual arguments in its favour.

I just can't help being optimistic, and now that GONe is gone, I do think we have a chance. Everything has to fall in to place perfectly, including beating Leicester at the weekend, and we go from there...

It’s annoying because most of us on here knew this was how it was going to be.
He’s absolutely going to have to get a few unexpected wins somewhere ie Man Utd home, Villa and Forest at home to.
Really don’t mind us shithousing results now.
We’ve provided enough chaos, soap opera activity and people winning at our expense to last 3 seasons so a bit more back to basics stuff will do just fine.

I just watched the Brentford highlights. 😄 No way were staying up without some new players. Doesn't matter who the manager is.

I have hope.
The Keepers could be ok Short term.
Full back / Wing Back are ok
Centre halfs are a Problem, But some organisation from Vitor, may help until re-inforcements turn up.
Midfield and forwards are definately upper mid prem players.

Don't agree with that, Glasgow - the keepers are absolutely a problem. Combined with our bloody awful defence and it's a recipe for disaster.

The only slim hope we have is these next set of tough fixtures serve as a good demonstration of what's needed for the new manager, which he can then work on behind the scenes. Any wins picked up after the Leicester game will be a big bonus.

Then when we are next presented with some more profitable fixtures we can take full advantage of any changes he's made and hopefully go on a bit of a run.

It'll be difficult if we're cut adrift in a big way though. I could easily see us being 9 points shy of 17th by the time the next 8 or 9 games finish.

The GK, and defence that’s been assembled is nothing short of a disgrace.
Two GK with a weekly big error in them, 3 young CH 1 injured, 1 injured then deemed not ready and 1 not good enough.
2 others over 30 and who is way past his best.
To many project players about and way under subscribed in others.
Example being RAN knowing he plays pretty much regardless because there’s no one to challenge him.
The money used on Andre and Johnstone should’ve been used to built the defence to a competent level.
So many issues and so reliant on Cunha being brilliant.

We certainly would have stayed up, and comfortably, with competent leadership from October. We’ve trashed the whole season in the last few weeks, and it’s because of tolerating the mismanagement as folks like you have advocated. I wouldn’t be on my high horse if I were you, you couldn’t have a starker case of mismanagement laid on the slab right now.

There are still a few teams in the bottom third more than capable of going on horror runs (including us!) so there's hope yet. We just need to stop being so easy to beat for a start

It sounds simple (and surely it is!?) But some organisation off defensive set pieces would have a huge impact on us.

If you look at how many points we've dropped from those set piece goals and then halve the frequency we'd probably be about 15th?

Tough. Very tough.

It's not impossible, but it would need all three of serious money throwing at it in January, the new manager being the second coming of Stan Cullis, and multiple other teams imploding.

Whilst I can see two from three happening, all three is very unlikely so I went for a no.

Any character or confidence rebuilt after Fulham was pretty much destroyed within 20 minutes of the Bournemouth game.
One of the biggest components of playing at the top level is mental strength and coping with adversity, this bunch don’t have it.

This starts, crucially, with the manager/coach, IMV.

We have the players to turn it around, just about. But whoever the new guy is will have a serious mountain to climb in getting said players to believe such.

Well if we're expecting good behaviour and discipline from Pereira then we might be sadly mistaken.
