Just saw a stat that said there have been 304 mass shootings in the US this year.

Today is the 312th day of 2018.

That's fucking mental.

sigh.

now that republicans aren't in control of congress I hope the dems try to push some legislation through. the republican senate won't approve any gun measures but dems will at least be able to say 'we tried' and aim for a sweep in 2020 (even though, going forward, the senate will be very hard for the dems to take back simply because of demographics)

Well it seems to have been a while but reports of a "mass shooting" at a bowling alley in Torrance, California

Saw a tweet from Sky News, so did a search on Twitter and the first tweet that came up was footage from inside the bowling alley which wasn't very pleasant.

Five more in Aurora, Illinois (not the same Aurora as the theater shooting some years ago).

Shooter was a felon so shouldn't have been allowed a gun. Will mean it gives gun advocates their justification that criminals will get guns regardless of the law, I'm sure.

Let's hope Wayne Campbell,Garth Algar and Cassandra are safe eh?

Was gonna say was it at The Gasworks?

I don't quite see the joke here...

Well no. Just morbid British humour.

I always hate seeing this thread bumped. What a fucking shame. Again.

You never seen Wayne's world then?

I think Alan means joking on a thread about another shooting in America.

It is just a case of British "black humour" though Al

Was a little of both.

Guess I'm just tired. Even moreso that these events prompt spikes in gun sales.

Presume it was an illegal gun then - unless US rules allow them to buy legal ones (from what I have read not sure that that is a bar in some States though)

Guns have largely turned America into a nation of cowards.

I don't believe that convicted felons can legally purchase any firearms in any state (they can't even vote in a lot of them), but equally I can't claim to know the specifics of gun restrictions in all 50.
