That's been confirmed numerous times though. Hardly a shock is it.Sporting Director publicly confirm that we essentially function as a talent factory for bigger clubs
He shouldn't directly say it and tell the fans that we should be grateful to see them full stop. Why can't they just behave normally, it's not much to ask. That's been confirmed numerous times though. Hardly a shock is it.
Yes, by an absolute mileWas Neto our best player?
As @Deutsch Wolf says, the job of the club is to win games, not be a talent factory.Well can't they?
If the job is to get players, improve and sell for a profit then yep, they can take credit and if no other fucker will give it them, then self back slap away.
Neto arriving was Mendes but his improvement is on the club. GoN especially got the best out of him.
Our previous sale was a kid from non league and sold for £40m.
Next up will be turning £15m Gomes into a £50m sale
To me, it seems to be fashionable right now to say fuck you at the club whatever it is.
The Sporting Director saying, yep we did our job based on what they are asked just seems a stretch but if raging over everything at the club is your thing, go nuts my friend.
Agree but Hobbs and his team are asked to work in a particular way and they are doing. They can't have it all ways. You want to charge premium prices, don't act as if you're Rotherham United.
Don’t think I agree that it was so clear-cut.Yes, by an absolute mile
Then he should be telling his boss that in an email not the fans who are shelling out to hear the 'be grateful you're a feeder club in the PL' bullshit.Agree but Hobbs and his team are asked to work in a particular way and they are doing.
Much prefer him to be open and honest on that front.
Being a bit better than Jeff is no kind of bar. I don't mind Hobbs on the whole and he does the bidding of his paymasters, that's fine. Patronising the fanbase and saying things that patently aren't true, not fine.Agree but Hobbs and his team are asked to work in a particular way and they are doing.
Much prefer him to be open and honest on that front.
Makes a change from the A.I bullshit we get from the Exec Chairman.
Who was better?Don’t think I agree that it was so clear-cut.
The job of Hobbs is just that though. As @Deutsch Wolf says, the job of the club is to win games, not be a talent factory.
And no, fans don't want to hear how good the club are at 'developing' players. We want the club to win games of football and treat us decently , both of which haven't happened this calendar year.
Agree it's been all over the place but we seem to have landed on the actual original Fosun* plan from last summer by default.I'd mind less if they spent money properly and they clearly don't. There's no efficiency in the model.
Jota goes and we sign Fabio and Hoever.
Nearly all of the money for MGW goes on Guedes.
We needed the Neves sale to balance the books but we get the bonus of somehow getting back more than we paid for Collins and Nunes, who are both shite (and in themselves a horrible indictment of how we scout players). Great stuff....except we've bought little of any value with it.
We need 4-5 good players in three weeks, we aren't going to get them.
GoN shouldn't be anywhere near having an opinion on recruitment, this is the man who was pushing for Harrison Reed. The job of Hobbs is just that though.
That doesn't change until Jeff goes or Fosun sell up/get that investment, so I will stick with appreciating a degree of honesty from the man put forward to the fans on transfers etc.
Can separate the different elements enough to understand his comments. Also know the policy is loaded with risk and at some point it will bite us and we will be back in the Championship.
I would say GO feels similar as he is publicly pushing for players who are proven to add on top of the talent factory purchases.
Whether he gets his way, we will see. History says nope but this window actually started with us spending money before we had received a penny, which was a huge change compared to last summer.
Well no but a large part of that was the recklessness of Jeff, post Covid and the Lopetegui save our season spree (which carried into last summers budget).Except we don't do the last bit. All we're doing is losing good players.
I think the majority of signings he gets a minor input.GoN shouldn't be anywhere near having an opinion on recruitment, this is the man who was pushing for Harrison Reed.
He should stick to coaching the same way the very best current managers do.
