Worst XI of the decade

If we are going to do this think that we should exclude those merely on loan who have been brought in purely to deal with a short term need - think that Helan & Holt fall into that category (even if neither answered the question that was being asked) - neither cost much & were still overpaid given the outcome.

This thread should concentrate on those we actually paid for & thought would be part of the team going forward.

And me, but he wasn't actually that bad in the end - especially during that relatively purple patch of goals.

Jed Wallace was pretty crap for us too - i note Pompey had him in their team of the decade along with JOH.

I mean, they’ve been a shit league one and two team for the last decade, it’s not a shining endorsement to be in that team.

Nah, I reckon anyone whose turned out for us in the first team is worthy of inclusion!

No way Helan should escape his fate, no matter how far out of play he dribbles it!

You can see why they like him though. They had hit rock bottom and he came on to the scene and was scoring for fun and helped put the club back on track. Didn't work out for us but he is now doing a solid job at Millwall

Ken bought him and had no idea what he was.

I'd want to throw Danny Graham into the hat for this. He was harewood levels of not trying for me.

Thought he did ok in the very short time he was here. Certainly wouldn't say he didn't try

Yeah, Danny Graham was ok, shocking miss at Sheff Wed aside.

Not what we needed and we were crap at the time so any striker would have struggled but he was alright.

Twitter loves Zubar. Absolutely mental.

He was appalling.

It’s that West Ham goal and game. So much hope.

Genuinely one of the worst defenders I have ever seen. Atrocious.

Lest we forget that we bought him as a centre half and abandoned that after Billy fucking Paynter bullied him.

Oh yeah he was great for them, just pointing out you wouldn’t need a great deal of quality to get in their team of the decade given their travails during that period.

Yep, but as this thread shows we all love a trier.

-------------------------------------------Andy Lonergan------------------------------------

--------------------Sebastian Bassong-------Roger Johnson------Kaspars Gorkss----------

Jermaine Pennant----Eggert Jonsson------Tongo Doumbia-----Tommy Rowe-----Sheyi Ojo

-----------------------------Jake Cassidy------------Paul Gladon----------------------

Absolute fucking mince.

This, bit with Mason up front, he was beyond awful and cost millions - Cassidy cost bugger all.

I’d also consider nominating the midfield (not as individuals but as a midfield 3 with Pennant on the wing) as Edwards, Coady, Saville. I absolutely hated that period. No movement, no dribbling, no forward passing, just give the ball to the opposition and try and tackle them. Everything football shouldn’t be.

Dave was fucking crap but I would never have him near this kind of team.

Funniest tweet I've ever read....

Missed that one! (I get hundreds of notifications every day, famous and all that)

Mate. You know what a decade is, yeah?

Fair point well made Deutschy, Fair point well made .... I just couldn't decide which decade.

Seriously though I suppose it's any player Thelwell brought in prior to Jorge Mendes.

You are always going to get fans that liked Zubar because he used to go on (undisciplined) runs forward and sometimes used to beat his chest ("passion") - his general football ability and defensive positioning were just horrible.

Zubar deserves his place in the team purely based on that injury time back pass v Bolton. I'll never forgive him for that.
