Odd game for him really. Didn't have a great deal to do. Infact I can only think of 3 things per half when he was noticed. First half he made to 2 dominant catches from crosses and one awful kick when he was looking to release Wilson quickly for a counter (which came from one of his good catches). 2nd half, woeful attempt to save the shot that leveled the scores. Shot was straight at him and such weak wrists he basically palmed the ball in the net. Should have come for the cross that eventually led to the foul for the penalty. Exact same type of cross in the 1st half we was out claiming (had no chance with the penalty though). Finally another woeful attempt at a quick pass out to set up a counter.
Plusses from last night - Our defence looked organised, full backs were very good, Herc and Gibbs-White excellant, Donavon looking good and Bright is simply too good for the U23 level now. He is going to learn or gain nothing more at that level. Infact we fell to pieces when we subbed him.
Our goal was quality. Villa free kick, we clear and Gibbs-White gets on the ball, holds off the challenge and breaks free and then plays a lovely ball between the full back and centre half for Wilson to run onto and such a lovely calm finish from him.
Should have finished 2-2. Right at the end the ball fell to Simpson 5 yards out, Villa keeper was nowhere, it just needed to be passed into the goal and he scuffed it badly and it rolled back to the keeper who was still sat on his arse from his failed attempt to take the cross we put in.
Our wingers were dreadful though and our the majority of our set plays were stunningly bad
