Wolves Academy Thread

Seems pretty brutal in terms of the amount we've got rid of, I expect we've got a few kids lined up to join up to the academy this summer.

I think the statement is fair enough, if these kids aren't anywhere near our team now when we're in League One, and they're not *that* young any more, then there isn't really any sense in keeping them on just to play in our U21s for another year or two. Also it's endemic of us having so many different and crucially differing first team managers over the last couple of years, they all want completely different kinds of players coming through the youth system. Hopefully it is all a bit more joined up now.

From what I have seen, none of Whittall, Kostrna, Tank or Cranston were anything like good enough to ever have an impact here. Would be very surprised if any of them make a Football League career (as I will with Kellerman). As I say I am surprised we have let Parry go because he really did look to have something about him. Not seen Jakobsson or Moli or if I have I can't remember anything about them.

I recall Jakobsson was highly rated when brought in, but if he couldn't cut it, it is what it is.

Wolves have confirmed they will not be taking up the year’s option on defender Michael Ihiekwe’s contract.

The 21-year-old defender has been a professional at Molineux for three years without tasting any first team action until a recent successful loan spell where he finished the season making 13 appearances for Cheltenham Town.

Wolves would like to thank Michael for all his efforts and wish him well for the future.

Makes sense, both haven't forced their way into first team reckoning by the age of 21/22. Should be a fair few to follow on the 'Ex Wolf Watch' thread next season.

Stweave and Halsall have been binned according to @ComptonStars.

Someone on the Mix seems to think Prosser has been sacked as well along with some rank and file youth coaches.

Obviously not happy with the job they were doing so rightly binned off, it'll be interesting to see who comes in to replace them. I would say that with our category status we might be able to get someone highly regarded in.

I'd guess they have replacements lined up too

You'd imagine so, I'm liking what we're doing, it's like a complete overhaul, it's what we needed, old guard out, start again from scratch.

Didn't KT go off on a fact finding junket to Lisbon a few weeks ago? Could this be connected?

Would be sad if Prosser had been moved on as I personally really rated him having been on a session of his last year. Will be interesting to see what happens next then with all this.

the style Weaver's teams played was awful, he's rightfully out of the job, IMHO.

David Moli is another that was highly touted, can't say I ever saw much of him, but Liverpool signed him from Luton, we pinched him from Pool. From what I heard he was a bit of a throwback to the bad old days of youth football, a giant of a kid that was all physicality. Compton might be able to tell us more? knew this was coming after seeing he was loaned to the non leagues.

That's exactly what he is BMB, not sure he had the natural brain but I thought his technique was OK and he may well come back with better and sharper decision making when he gives it a go at a lower level. Football has moved on as you know and he's been unfortunate that he wasn't born 10 years earlier.

I saw him playing for Boreham Wood against Dorch. He didn't show anything that convinced me he'd make it as anything other than a semi-pro player. He looked very wooden to me - physically big and strong but terrible technically.

He was just one of those kids that was bigger than his peers, so made a good youth footballer, but was never going to progress when he started playing against adults.

Tim Flowers left Kidderminster Harriers on Friday, for a job at an unnamed league club. He was first team coach at Kiddy. Our academy year has now ended I believe, and is it possible that Tim Flowers will be named head of our academy on Monday.
