Wow! Fire away chaps - try and beat today's 43 shots...!

Have we drawn a game 4-4 before? I can't remember one.

Edit - Just thought of one. Swansea a few years ago.

you just go through the full range of emotions with a game like this. despair at ht with a bit of hope. delight at getting to a winning position and then the sucker punch at the end. weaknesses at the back exposed again. can't complain about a point overall even if the manner is hard to take.

Can a mod add a "verdict" to the thread title?

A shame we didn't hold out for the win but after such a poor first half I'd have snapped hands off for a 4-4 draw.

Cav's goal looks like a class finish, as was Edward's.

Given we know that our defence is poor & Fulham having been scoring goals for fun lately not surprised that we could not hold onto that, feeling drained now

As said on the matchday thread score 4 at home & you should be winning - then again suspect Fulham fans think the same, score 4 away and you should be winning. From 1 - 3 down that was a good comeback.

Despite conceeding 4 sounded as if Burgoyne did OK & didn't sound as if he could do much about them. Certainly helped us with a double save at 1 - 3 which would have put Fulham out of sight. Interested in views from those there as to how he performed

More fun than another 0-0 I guess but we have to be sorting that defence out asap.

Burgoyne did ok. His kicking was pretty poor - similar level to lonergan's tbh. There was very little he could have done for the 3 goals in front of the south bank, couple of times he could have been more vocal too.

Really good double stop on the second half and couldn't see if he could have done better for the Fulham last min equaliser.

Was that 4-4? Thought it was 2-2.

Last one I can think of is against Tottenham. Doyle and Defoe each had a hat trick IIRC. Sure Dan can confirm or deny.

Just back, all in all a great game for the spectator despite a poor first half and just not quite being able to hold on at the death for the wolves fans.

In terms of our personnel:

Burgoyne - I thought he was pretty good, his double save was nothing short of outstanding and kept us in it. The first 3 goals he couldn't do much about with the defence being really poor for 2 and the third being a sensational volley. In terms of the 4th I wonder if he could have tried to claim the cross that went across goal that was in the build up to it? regardless, a good debut and I can see why the wolves set up rates him. His kicking looked like in was lacking in power but seemed to go in the right areas (far better than Lonergan anyway)
Will he be dropped right away or was there enough there to keep his place I wonder? I suspect the former.

Iofra - His ball control and passing can really let him down at times. Seemed at fault for the second goal. Wasn't a car crash of a performance, but in a game where our defence was appalling he was a part of the issue. I'd drop him for Silvio but that won't happen.
Batth - Okish, handled Martin reasonably well. Got lost for the 1st and 2nd goals. Wasn't the worse centre back today I thought...
Hause - I've given up on him now, he seems to always have an error in him. Nearly conceded an own goal as he tried to clear the ball away following a Burgoyne save. I felt he didn't trust Burgoyne enough which I didn't like. Sliced several clearances. A good goal, rising well to beat his man and aided by Button struggling to get down quick enough, think he or Iofra missed a sitter from a freekick however. Would drop for Williamson or Stears next.
Doherty - A really annoying player. Their first two goals came down the left and he was more at fault for both than Cavaleiro I thought. Scored a goal, but missed a sitter before that. His pass for Cavaleiro to go on and score was excellent, however.

Saiss - Flashes of brilliance on the ball, but if we're going to play Edwards and Coady I would look at dropping him because he doesn't seem to have a great understanding with either. Taken off for Bodvarsson in a substitution I doubted but ultimately worked.
Coady - Ran ran ran ran ran. Was all over the pitch, the effort is there we just need a bit more quality. Him and Edwards in a 4-4-2 wasn't a complete car crash so it might be something we start with for the next game.
Edwards - Outstanding goal, worthy of being a winner. Also ran ran ran ran ran. He broke down a fair few attacking moves however with poor touches, but he will keep his place (and on balance, probably deserves to)

Costa - Lots of running and trickery on the right. He is aided enormously by Cavaleiro being on the left. Couldn't seem to beat Malone at LB as much as I was hoping but never stopped fighting and kept going.
Dicko - Needs a goal. Lots of criticism for missing the open goal that I felt was unfair considering the difficulty he had. Missed a sitter with his header but luckily Doherty was on hand to clear it up. As a lone forward, he's doing the right things in terms of pressing and finding space. Got a yellow, but I was sat quite well to see it and I thought it was a two footed tackle.
Cavaleiro - Super game, tracked back constantly and really harassed their RB. Some good balls into the box and a world class finish for his first wolves goal. Needs to get a better understanding with Doherty however.

Subs
Bodvarsson - Good cameo, but like Dicko he really needs a goal in order to kick on.
Teixiera - Didn't do a lot
Price - Got around with the ball but didn't do a lot in reality.

You're thinking the first game we had against Swansea. It was 4-4 in the return fixture when Wolves had already been relegated.

Ah, true enough. I've repressed most of that season tbf.

I think we have to accept for now we are shit at the back and just look to some Ossie Ardiles style attacking and try to outscore. I would go 4-4-2 next game as the 2 wingers and strikers should be good enough for this level. Cav and Costa are tracking back more now so perhaps they can play in that system after all. Stears to come back in next game my central partnership would be Saiss and Edwards although I think Price would be the better option given we would be playing 2 wingers.

Ikeme was quite good to listen to he's so chilled he almost sounds stoned lol nice to have a current player share his views.

Absolutely no idea how Dave stuck that one away.

Great finish from Cav too, although Cairney's takes the biscuit. Outrageous hit.

Last season some people said "a win is all that matters" when we fluked wins over Xmas. As we all know, the performances were dismal, and ultimately that level of performance came home to roost. So today, yes, a win would have been great. But what's much more important for me is having the balls to come back from 1-3 to lead 4-3, and the team spirit that went with it. Some signs of progress under PL, I think...

That was a truly mental game but taking away all of the emotion we really aren't very good in midfield and still can't defend. We literally got to 4-3 because we went for it and left just 2 back at times and hoped for the best. Pretty sure it was mentioned last week but i'm certain Doherty could play central midfield and be a much better option than the likes of Coady. Will do a more in depth review later on.

Highlights here

Cracking goal from Cavaleiro & Dicko's chance was difficult. Not sure how Edwards put the ball in from there though

Burgoyne's double save is very worth watching as well

Cheers for the highlights. We missed some sitters and for their 4th the Fulham player was playing leap frog to get up to head that ball, both hands on the defenders shoulders, should have been a free out.

I think you are being very generous to Dicko there Parkin, he has to score. Great finishes from Cav and Edwards. I'm sick of seeing Iorfa getting done at the back post, he needs to be dropped. I'm watching on my phone, who got caught under the ball for the header on their fourth, Edwards?

Possibly, but coming back from that injury & without a goal since he did it was not a gimme. Dicko on last years form would have done
