Wolves 2-3 Leeds: Verdict Thread

How many games will Raul be suspended for, as his second red of the season?

Two yellows so should be one game rather than three, potentially a second for the second red of the season?

Was it Man City away where Boly won the ball but still got sent off because his challenge was deemed excessive force?

Batth away at Bristol City too, won the ball but still sent off.

You've totally ignored my points Mark, and you are rooted in an argument with Wolves fans that you truly can't believe, surely?

I'm out.
What exactly have I ignored?

It could've been considered a foul challenge by the keeper, it was forceful, if he'd missed the ball as Jimenez did then it certainly would've been the case.

However, that doesn't mean it definitely wasn't a foul by Jimenez just because it could also have been a foul by Meisler. Those type of challenges are fine margins, high speed/force from opposing directions, no-one in control of the ball. Fair chunk of luck can often decide who comes out with the ball and who's getting punished, sometimes very strictly. Slightly different spin on the ball, spilt second later Meisler comes out and Jimenez knicks it away almost certain red card against Leeds. Meisler getting the ball and both players ending in a heap meant that was very unlikely to go against him though.

Your logic gets to be played out in real life in the next two games. So lets see how it goes. I hope you're correct of course and he scores a couple as I really like Silva.
I hope so & I am pleased you like him.

Mmmm. Well, let's get the obvious out of the way. That is a truly shocking red card decision and it undoubtedly turned the game as we were in no danger whatsoever. The lino 100% gave us the free kick. But it isn't Kevin Friend's fault that we missed numerous chances to go four or five up before then, or our circus like defending for all the goals against.

Poor game management from Lage I felt - once Raul was off we needed another focal point. You can't play Podence and Trincao up front against anyone. Uncharacteristically panicky as soon as we conceded the first, we don't normally do that. And there's the sight of a Neves-less midfield for you, let's hope we don't have to see that permanently.

I think that's Europe done sadly. Three of our last eight are ones we'll probably lose, and add Burnley away into the mix where we're never any good. A shame because there was plenty to like about the first hour or so - without a doubt Trincao's best game for us by a mile, and the wingbacks were top drawer too. But it counts for nowt when you lose.

Let's can the conspiracy theories - referees are just shit. They don't have a vested interest in what Wolves do or don't do.

You are ignoring the aggressive intent by their keeper. Far more aggressive than Raul’s attempt to win the ball.
I'm not ignoring anything, two players run head long for a loose ball. Whichever one gets to it first is likely to be fouled, Meisler has gone for a wilder attempt at the ball than Jimenez's tentative prod at it but him getting to the ball is ultimately was decides it for the ref in my opinion.

If he'd slide across and his follow through plants his studs half way up Jimenez's leg then the excessive force thing probably comes into question but I think the largely body to body impact blurs the lines enough in his favour. So you end up with a keeper winning the ball, striker slightly late and they clatter together, ends up as a foul against the striker but then the booking is probably on the harsh side.

Have a word with Connor & Bruno. They clearly know nothing about football.

Semantics. A simple collision - with the keeper being far more aggressive in intent. I agree with Connor.

I've just seen the second yellow. I agree with Mark, normally the second to get there gets a yellow in those situations. Now obviously there isn't any malice and a referee who understands the game lets it go particularly when it's a second yellow, but we don't have those in England any more.

That is never a yellow card.
Meslier clashes into him while clearing the ball.
The refereeing standard is embarrassing. - POST ON redcafe.net

It’s both hilarious and maddening. Friend absolutely changed the game there. - POST ON rawk

Seems the football world disagrees with Mark
