Wolves 2-1 Man City: Verdict Thread

For all the stick O'Neil has got so far (a lot of it merited) he got everything right there; I'm generally a sceptic regarding three at the back as you can't just wish it's 2019 again, but we played it well there, not just three lumps stood 10 yards in front of the keeper and wingbacks banned from going over the halfway line which is how it's been for us for a long time if we do try to go defensive.

Pressed them everywhere, carried a threat on the break and for all the ball they had, Sa only made one big save. It was muck and nettles defending but nothing wrong with that if you do it well.

Takes a hell of a lot of pressure off - we simply couldn't go along losing every home game - and I don't think you could make a case for us not deserving to win.

Pawson - appalling. So many terrible terrible calls.

Nunes - get it right up you, you fucking Steve Corica prick.

Fantastic atmosphere in the ground. Thanks Nunes.

Very intelligent setup I though, kudos to GON for that. Fully expected pep to change things at half time as per Klopp but the effort and fight from the team was superb. On the edge at times but I enjoyed the handbags at full time, Haaland did not enjoy getting bettered by Dawson.

Semedo was magnificent I thought. Great performance.

Silva did well when he came on I thought. Fought for everything, won the ball, and showed strength and some tenacity for a change.

I was amazed how ineffective and clueless City looked. They really rely on Rodri in midfield to Marshall everything and break the lines to give the others space.

Sa holding on to the Walker hit aside he didn't have any real saves to make other than catching practice. I don't think you can criticise him for the free kick. Never getting to that.

One moment where he fluffed what I thought should have been a simple pass to set Neto away down the right, but aside from that I agree, put in the work that was needed to stop City immediately recycling possession after we cleared.

Brilliant game, brilliant result. GON got the tactics spot on including the subs.
All the players were terrific, special mentions for Neto, Semedo, RAN. Dawsons best game for a while, had Haaland in his pocket.
Sa also very good, maybe could have done a bit better on the goal, maybe a bit churlish.
Had to defend deep at times but for the most part kept them at arms length.
Dare I say it? It was almost Nunoesque

He pushed one away low to his left in the second half, was a very good save. Nothing else really of note.

Wouldn't like to say on the FK without seeing it again, I will say it didn't look anything like a foul.

Great win. Well done to all involved. Never in doubt..

Think it'll need to be 3 figures plus for Neto to move. Attacking players always cost more, the going rate for a winger who's currently averaging a goal or assist per game in the PL is high.

I've no doubt he'll have interest but will someone pay up?
I think it would definitely take more than a hundred quid, yeah.

Got to love Hwang. He's gone from absolutely pitiful to one of our most reliable players. Has he learned a bit of English? Found a partner? Whatever, he's exactly what you want in any Wolves player -works his bollocks off, takes his chances and, unlike Podence, isn't a moaning diva. Fair fucks to the guy.

Only game we haven't scored now is the opener at Old Trafford, and we keep taking leads. I'm still not convinced by GON in broader terms but that's something we were crying out for under Lage and even JL.

Great win and props to O’Neil for getting the tactics right today.

Neto and Hwang have found a bit of form under him which isn’t a coincidence I don’t think. What’s that for Hwang now? Five goals?

Stick with a back three too. No reason we can’t still be an attacking threat with it as today exemplified.

I think a lot of scouts will probably see Neto as inconsistent and injury prone.

Like Neves and Jota before him, he's worth more to us than he would be to other clubs, IMV. We'll probably have to settle a bit if we sell him on.
