I wouldn't play Silva in the 10 either. I'd play him as a second striker though, he's definitely got the intelligence and passing for it

I only caught the second half as we got up mega late today in our house, but thought we looked really good.
We were all over them after Dunks red.

Traore, RAN and Mourinho absolutely bossed that half for us, although the short corners are still woeful. BBC commentators were giving us loads of stick for them.
The Traore goal was one of the best worked goals all season. Great movement from everyone involved and super one-two to the it up.
Delighted for MGW - he should have scored from the earlier open goal chance, but he took his second chance well.

looking through the reddit thread about the red card, a brighton fan posted

"He was fouled three or four times with no calls, most were not that clear but a couple were including an obvious push in the back shortly before they scored. Not saying the goal shouldn't have happened but he was clearly annoyed by that.

Not defending him of course he's totally at fault for getting this red but Moss was incompetent today. It wasn't even a difficult match to referee, the teams were playing clean and there wasn't huge intensity."

so maybe those more specific instances, imagined or not. admittedly I wasn't paying close enough attention to have noticed

I think it was the incident mentioned and then there were a couple of nibbles and then Coady going over softly when he was shoulder to shoulder with Maupay, he said something to Coady as he came past and Coady seemed to say something back. Maupay is one of those players that seems to try and wind everyone he plays against up, and more often than not somehow winds himself up instead.

Again, I’ve never said that - not really sure why you keeping banging that drum, feel free to do a search for ‘Tredman AND Fabio’ if you like.

He’s clearly going to be a good striker, potentially a very good striker. He’s not going to be an inside forward or no 10 no matter how many time people wish it.

Yeah, I thought Hoever did ok apart from a few poor crosses.

He did okay but I think he's a bit behind RAN for example. No qualms with him coming in when Semedo is injured/needs a rest though.

Apart from his dismal attempts at crosses he made some nice runs into the box and wasn't afraid to do stuff, what makes you say he isn't a right back or are we writing him off at the age of 19 ?

Showed excellent pace to get back and cover at one point, made some very good sharp runs to get in the box too.

For what it's worth I wouldn't play him (Silva) as a 10 either: MGW would have that role for me currently with Vitinha in the Moutinho role. By behind Raul I mean perhaps the left or right as an inside forward, similar to how Liverpool play Firmino.

No idea what you're watching TT regards his pace. He's got good pace and agility and gets up and down very well. He's certainly quicker and a better defender than Doc.

He's a better defender than Semedo 1v1 but obviously isn't as good going forward.

I agree on his crossing but some of his passing was very good.

and what did he do when he got there? Anyway I'm not going to turn this into a dig at a 19 year old kid. If people feel he's going to be a credible option for us at right back then that's their preogative. Personally, other than in a needs must situation I don't see it in the way we play. In a Burnley flat back 4 sitting kind of way or Pulis at Albion then probably

Firmino plays vast majority of his minutes at the centre of their front three.

Watched the first half live but was busy so I recorded the 2nd half and watched it back without knowing the score.

Plenty of positives there and good to see us creating chances but we are still so frustrating to watch with how wasteful we can be with crosses/balls into the box. We must also take the worst corners in the whole league.

Still, I’m delighted we won and there was plenty for us to build on. RAN played well again, as did Fabio. Vitinha was decent and MGW did well once he replaced him in the centre. Traore had a really positive impact and we scored two lovely goals.

First half was fine until they scored, which was pretty much their first attack. Then we ceded far too much ground and looked like conceding off every set piece.

Second half was pleasing, we forced the red card with our own good play and we were getting on top anyway. RAN the standout player for me but Fabio also had a good game - however he is a striker, not a wide attacker, not a playmaker, not a #10, just a striker. I don't see us ever changing that and with good cause.

Not a big fan of Kilman but he had a decent enough showing and Hoever was fine at everything bar the final ball - whether we can coach that into him we'll have to see. Best Adama has played in quite a long time, was properly on it and took the goal well.

45 points with three games to play given all the issues we have had (and bear in mind there are quite a few games where we didn't get what we might have done) is not too bad given how supposedly poor we've been.

Quite a bit of fluid movement between him, Salah and Mane though (last season anyway). I just think we have forward players now who could execute similar.
