Wolves 2 - 0 Aston Villa: May we never take this nosebleed for granted.

One way of looking at it.

When he scored the referees smart watch didn't go off to indicate a goal.

I did wonder after the delerium why he went over and spoke to Nuno and Bruce and then both captains.

Yep, took an age to restart the game for no apparent reason (then of course he only adds on three minutes at the end...presumably Bruce and JT were begging for mercy at that point)

If it did then it buggered us though as we couldn't tell if his header had crossed the line and therefore denied us of a goal of the season contender.

I've not seen an angle where it looks over the line, tbf.

My initial reaction from the main camera angle was that it looked over the line. Hard to tell for sure though, obvs.

Not sure what Alan has seen but he seemed to indicate that it was over the line too:

Not sure if it was shown on Sky but over here the replays seemed to show pretty clearly that Jota's header late on went over the line. Too bad Hawkeye was broken.

Not seen a single villa fan anywhere. Been cc'd in to an email, but as I wasn't direct recipient, no comments made.

I actively avoid gloating. Rather bide my time.

The Villa fan at work who didn’t turn in yesterday shook my hand and said it was the best performance he’d ever seen and that we annihilated them, he was just chuffed it was only 2-0.

I thought Preston were doing well, then I looked at their fixtures and they've had it pretty easy.

Still, will be a tough game but we should have enough.

You think we've had it easy??
Sheffield Wednesday
Leeds
Derby
Reading
Middlesbrough
Cardiff
Birmingham
Hull
Sunderland
Fulham
Barnsley
Millwall.

I reckon before the season started , at least seven of those sides were considered play off contenders.

I was at Boro - Preston, terrible game of football but Preston were well organised to be fair to them.

Difference being that we will be far more organised ourselves than Boro were going forwards. Boro played with little width and lack individyals who could take players on.

It will be a decent game!

No game at this level is easy......well 1 or 2 might be (but Sheff Wed thought they had the easy game on Saturday)

Look at our results and our 2 defeats have come against 2nd and 3rd. So on paper, we are shit against the Top 6 teams but fine outside of that, so our run has been easy.....

Sheffield Wednesday - AVERAGE
Leeds GOOD
Derby AVERAGE/GOOD
Reading POOR
Middlesbrough AVERAGE
Cardiff GOOD
Birmingham POOR
Hull POOR
Sunderland POOR
Fulham AVERAGE/GOOD
Barnsley POOR
Millwall. POOR

Yeah but they haven't been that good IMO.

Thoughts next to team.

Whether Wednesday, Boro will pull there finger out I don't know, but on current form, none of them will trouble play offs. Youve done well to avoid defeats, but other than Cardiff, you've not beaten a good team for me.

Just my opinion.

Just seen this from Bruce:

“You can go at formations and systems and everything but I didn’t think we did enough. It’s as simple as that.

His own version of "people talk about formations, but when those players cross the white line they don't matter". Funnily enough it was very much a DJ 2004 away day performance from them.

We were fantastic, but they were appalling given the money they've spent. No tactics, no plan and he's built such a slow team.

I noticed the "but they have spent a lot" as if he has been dealing with scraps since he took over

He's signed Hogan, Bree, Hourihane, Lansbury, Bjarnason, Taylor, Johnstone, Whelan, Elmohamady, Terry, Snodgrass, Samba and Onomah since he took over. Fees are probably around the £30m mark or so and they've recouped some of that with Veretout, Sanchez, Gestede, Baker and a few others going along the way. The club have spent a lot more since they came down on Kodjia, Chester, McCormack, Elphick, De Laet, Tshibola etc.

A lot of those are on crazy money though - Terry and Snodgrass in particular - and very, very few have any actual value - in fact a load of them are really old, which is why they didn't cost *that* much. Then they've got zero mileage out of a few, for instance McCormack has been farmed out to Australian football and Tshibola is currently being awful for McDons in League One.

The transfer policy they've adopted is awful and has had no thought to it whatsoever. Almost as if Tony Xia has no clue what he's doing.
