Wolves 1 Man United 1: “another Neves-esque classic goal” The Verdict thread

No perhaps about it. Yes we were poor with the ball but we still defended and pressed well. For a team that were apparently destroyed for 45 mins we gave them 1 shot on target and 2 half chances (Rashford cross & Martial in the final seconds). Destroyed makes it sound like we were hanging on for dear life and they were hitting shot after shot at us.

I'm going mad, and answering things I didn't say.

Whoa there, Pilgrim. Look at the message times, I was talking to Alan but your post sneaked in whilst I was typing mine.

Fair enough, I apologise for my remark to you. However I still think your original comment was twattish, no matter who was your intended target...

You're joking right. We had what, 15-20% possession that half? Not a single accurate long pass, we gave the ball away within 5 secs of having it with mindless forward balls? Not a single shot at goal, never even threatened?
Genuinely the worst half weve had in the last year or so,
The only reason we werent down 3-0 at halftime was donk running and covering like a madman (was fucked after 60 mins), boly supermaning the tackle at the end of the half, and lingard fluffing an absolute sitter in the box, unmarked, macguire not doing anything with 4-5 headers he won at corners etc. Lucky manu werent that good themselves, lingard was awful, pogba didnt do much, james is shit, etc. Ok fair enough, not really destroyed since they werent that good but we were poor

Hmmmmmm

Didn't feel that way in the ground, to be fair. They were good, they had possession, they really didn't do a lot with it. We weren't great. But you are implying it was the fucking Alamo which is frankly colossal amounts of fucking horseshit.

Hope we rest Patrico on Thursday and get his hands x-rayed today. Poor chap must be fucked

Ok not destroyed, but ceirtainly felt like we could have been 0-3 down that half and it wouldnt have been a shock. Their finishing was poor, their pressing was really effective and wr had no answer, and zero threat. Traore, by himself, was more threatening in 2 mins coming on than our entire team entire first half
Ok mr not hyperbole, name me a worst half weve had in the last year?

To be 3-0 up they would have needed more than 1 on target and 2 half chances. on the Martial one even if Martial doesn't step on it or whatever he did, look where Rui is. 1 more touch from Martial and Rui is at his feet. They were good, no denying it. They pressed us and we were shit on the ball but they only got behind us 3 times and 2 times we dealt with it (in the end).

They barely had a clear cut chance despite all the possesion, yes they were pushing us hard, Coady while not at his best passing wise (who was?) saved our arse a number of times with timely interceptions and tackles

We were sitting back defending waiting for the counter attack the entire half though, even jota and raul were closer to our box than the halfway line most of the time. We positioned very well but boly and donk aside I didnt think our defending was that good. Doc was missing, beano was fairly poor, they would have crushed that ride side if it wasnt donk tracking back and boly making last ditch challenges. coady had a few good challenges but passing was awful. Anyway, I really thought we were poor, if not the worst half in the last year definately the worst passing weve had

Donk was superb, Bennet was obviously struggling with Doc not being in the game. Utd were very good, pressed us nuch better than last season, but we survived, only one down at half time. For 20-25 minutes in second half we were much better than them and could even have won it, we probably just deserved to get a point in the end

There are a number to be fair. Man utd at home last season and we should have been 3 down after 25 minutes. Leicester had 16 attempts at us in their 4 3 defeat. Watford had 9 shots at goal and 56% possession in their 2 nil win last year. That's off the top of my head

I wouldn't say we were destroyed. I would say from my TV view that on the balance of play we should have been grateful to be only be a goal down

We were fairly comfortable to be honest until they scored with what was a really high class move.

I didn't think we were poor, I thought Utd were much sharper and we struggled to contain them. When we cleared our lines, their pressing game stopped us from having time on the ball, meaning our passing was wayward. When we did create space to get into they covered well to snuff us out
