Wolves 1-4 Brighton: Verdict Thread

Back to the football:

There are about five things here Fabio could have done where it probably would have ended in a goal and he did none of them.

Just drag it back onto his left and roll it into an empty net, Steele is in no man's land there. Even if he'd scuffed his shot it probably would've bobbled over the outstretched leg and gone in.

By all accounts, there was a little thing between Sa and a couple of fans having a go and he told them to come down and see if they could do better.

Whether that’s true or not I don’t know.
I've been waiting for a decent transfer rumour and, finally, one I could get behind. Come on Hobbs, let's get it done.

Said in the matchday thread he should have just taken it around Steele, who was in no man's land had he done so. Can't recall the last time I saw a forward do it though. Classic Ronaldo used to score shit loads doing it. Obviously Fabio not remotely in the same league as him though.

If you just blast it near side it's in, because Steele's positioning is miles off.

Cunha should definitely give it a go. I'd be way more confident with him trying to run past someone with the ball than kick it past them.

Where he put it he had to lift it and it’s a goal but along the floor gave Steele a chance with his legs. Could have gone through his legs or gone round him but as mentioned that is a dying art. Still think him being in that position, his finish for the offside goal and his link up for the RAN chance are reasons for optimism. No matter what everyone’s thoughts are giving up on him again after 1 start is short sighted and he needs a run of games.

It was a talking point on La Liga comms last night how prevalent going round (or trying to) the keeper has been in the first two weekends in Spain - something of an unexpected trend.

He's still more than a bit weak when we play it into him (was pretty much Costa's only strength on his Elvis in Vegas tour) which is an issue. We have to give him a go though because Sasa isn't ready to start and there's no-one else. Playing 0 strikers when we already can't score would be barmy, especially in three of the next four games which are against teams who should finish bottom half.

1st half in particular Dunk just knocked the ball constantly Silva hardly kept the ball in.
That in itself is unusual, he does usually hold.it up well.

Dunk has been really, really good for them since Potter was there. He's excellent at timing his tackles when a CF is trying to receive a pass with back to goal.

Obviously that's something Fabio will need to learn to cope with.

"Toxic", I don't know about that. A bit of stuff in one game when we went 0-4 down.

Wasn't even the right target either, as badly out of his depth as he was.
Was that the laptop-gate game where he was calling all the subs? Never did get an actual explanation on just how/why it looked like he was so involved.

It appeared at least that fan pressure did force an issue there soon after. Of course we can't know how much but if it does have some influence, then doesn't seem like there'd be any harm trying to voice concerns. Especially when a rare opportunity (G&S at game together) is there.

As people have said, sentiments in ground by STH aren't analogous to wider fanbase/fans on SM, and we don't know just how easily the FFP line has been swallowed. I will state here that I don't agree with others attacking posters based on their distance to the ground, that's a bit much.

I don't really see it as a negative, putting pressure on owners to hopefully change. Having a transfer policy would be a start, that'd be hugely positive to the team's fortunes, if more people get upset at that then they'd have to do something. Time limit involved too. No point if it all starts off after another 5-0 loss after September.

I don't want O'Neill at Wolves. There's a difference.
So would rather we lost than won, I want him to be a massive success, because that means we are winning.

That's different to thinking we will win every game

I booed when they scored the 4th, obviously aimed at the owners as far as I was concerned but I got a right bollicking, the players will think it’s aimed at them I was told, which is fair enough I suppose although I’d like to think after everything that’s happened over the last few weeks they’d realise it wasn’t aimed at them.
Lose the next two and start getting hammered by Liverpool and I think it’ll start to kick off.

The players earned the boos when the 4th went in tbf. It didn’t carry over too badly after play resumed which was good, IMV.

When season tickets are around 700 quid, and match day tickets 50 plus, I don't think we'll ever get a particularly "toxic" atmosphere at Molineux.

Those more vocal, emotional fans have been priced out.
